curiouser123 Posted May 27, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 27, 2011 Our old mammoth suitcase bit the dust and I think we are going to get something new. Any recommendations for family size suitcases?
Rare Keith1010 Posted May 27, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 27, 2011 We use 28" suitcases. We find that we can keep them to the 50 pound weight limit before extra fees are tacked on. Keith
cb at sea Posted May 27, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 27, 2011 If you have to fly, you want to make sure the size is right...if you're not flying, a steamer trunk is fine! Bring more than one....it's just easier! Unless there's a charge from an airline....they really screw things up for travelers!
Mom2B&Z Posted May 28, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 28, 2011 We have the 27.0" x 16.0" x 10.0" size and we love them. They are lightweight, so you can get a lot of stuff in them before hitting the 40lb weight limit. They have 4 rollers, so they don't tip going over rough ground. We can pack 3 suitcases for the 4 of us, plus a rolling carry-on "emergency" bag and a couple of back packs that we carry on the plane.
lumpkin8 Posted May 28, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 28, 2011 I don't know the ages of your family of 5, but I would suggest a carry on suitcase for each person, and that is it. Everyone fits their own clothes/stuff in their one suitcase,, and is responsible for caqrring it, and has easy access in the stateroom to their stuff. And no worries about any luggage being lost because nothing checked thru.
Fishon28 Posted May 28, 2011 #6 Share Posted May 28, 2011 My wife and I are a fan of larger duffels 30-35" with wheels. They hold a ton and because they weigh under 9 pounds you can load them and still keep it under 50lbs.
