Although I have cruised a half dozen times with my daughter to the Caribbean on Carnival, and once on NCL, we are thinking about going on a higher end line for a change. More specifically, we are looking at the Celebrity Summit. Has anyone had any experience with the kids club on these ships. I also am a bit concerned due to the fact that we will be traveling the week of December 10, which is just a few weeks before typical school vacation and I wounder how many if any kids will be along for the trip?

IME, not many, as most are still in school. A cruise we took around this same time period a couple years ago had a total of 32 children on board. We never saw most of them and the kid's club was fairly deserted. Not one person but my son was in the Teen Club.

When our children were young we often sailed on Celebrity. They had an excellent kids club as they do today. I would easily recommend Celebrity.

 

We found Celebrity great for both the children and, us, the adults.

 

The reality is that there will not be many children on board that week but that is true for all cruise line. There will still be a program and your daughter will get lots of attention from the wonderful staff.

I suspect if on a mainstream line that is a couple thousand + passengers, there will be a few kids. Not as many as holiday, but based on the discussions here many don't think twice about taking their kids out of school for a vacation.

we were on celebrity millenium in march of this year for a 10 day to the s. caribbean. Even though it was spring break for many, there were a total of less than 30 kids age 3-18 on the ship. My dd doesn't do the kids club (she's too much of a mama's girl;)) but we did go check it out a few times. The staff was really, really nice. It was a nice calm atmosphere and the kids who were there looked to be having a great time!

 

My dd was treated like royalty by the staff and the other passengers. So no problems there. The only thing I didn't like was that for the mdr they put us in the "kids" section. It wasn't official but all of us with kids (age infant to teens) were stuck back in the corner on the side. Its smart thinking on the cruise line's part, I get it, but on the other hand as a person who travels with a very well behaved child it was a bit unpleasant to have all the rowdy children right in one area. In many ways I think if they would have been evenly disbursed throughout the dining room it would have been less intrusive overall. Plus, there did develop a sort of romper room, anything goes cuz we're in the kids section mentality.

We love Celebrity and think it's very family-friendly, contrary to popular belief. Don't expect lots of family-centered activities but do expect an excellent kids' club, a low-key atmosphere, an upscale experience that is great value for the money, and incredible service!
