lindan1020 Posted June 14, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2011 Quick rundown of the good and not so good: Embarkation...Tampa platinum embarkation is always GREAT! On deck while going under the Skyway Bridge-very cool. The new serenity deck is AWESOME! Fell asleep in the hammock. Love the new round canopy loungers. The food...Fantastic as usual especially the Steakhouse and the Chocolate Extravaganza. The cruise director...what I saw of Wee Jimmy was good. The spa...had a great facial. The Captain's announcements...verrrryyyy slooowwwww--makes me sleepy. The entertainment...what we saw was GREAT! Motown w/Marcus Anthony-The Big Easy-the comedians--all five star! The downside of entertainment was that there could have been more. The casino...The table dealers and cashiers were all super nice. The slots didn't let me win enough;) and the entertainment was awful. Seems like Carnival casino singers are always pretty bad. The Art Auction...line was too long so we left. The MDR...Great! Our waiter, Evanton was super! All the food was delicious. A couple entres arrived a bit on the cold side. The Stateroom...room steward was great. The water pressure in the sink was very low--kinda annoying other than that it was the usual room. The extended balcony...LOVED IT!! Slept out there a couple nights:D:D The Guest Services desk...hmmm...not good :(--kinda got the feeling they don't like platinum guests. Had the same problem last time on the Legend also. The Personalized gift for platinum...was looking forward to a cooler...got little notebooks--kinda disappointing. The debarkation...went pretty smooth for platinum. From a couple of pictures I've seen, it looked like it had a couple of lounge chairs on it...I could definitely sleep out there. Just wondering if this was the same kind of balcony you had and if you had any other comments about it or the room. I booked the room for the balcony...hoping it wasn't an optical illusion!! Definitely spend too much time in the casino; so hopefully the slots will be a little more generous! Did you ever meet the casino host or did anyone come by to visit? Thanks! Karen

Just got off the same cruise and had pretty much the same thoughts. We had a great experience with the platinum guest services folks. Very friendly and when our credit card company stopped services for a large purchase in a foreign country (DW's darned tanzanite addiction), the guest services folks called them for us and we were on hold for probably 20 minutes. All at no cost to us. I agree that the Captain's announcements were horrible. Slow and hard to understand. I was dreading the platinum embarkation process as some reviewers have panned it. We thought it was great. Pretty short line at security. Waited maybe 5 minutes for a person to check us in. Then were escorted directly to the ship. Quick and easy. No more than 20 minutes from drop off to Lido deck..... Debarkation was even easier. Waited in Sachimos for a very short time and then were escorted off the ship. Immigration was the quickest of any port I have sailed out of. We were told to be in Sachimos at 8:30 and by 9 we were in the parking garage. Sweet. Great cruise, better weather than I thought we were going to have, and loved the ship. But then again, I really like the Spirit class. Can't wait to do this one again. Maybe the winter next time. lillian marie Posted June 20, 2011 #8 Share Posted June 20, 2011 We were on the Legend in May and are also platinum. I found the purshars desk to be really helpful. The op may have just found a person at the desk who was having a bad day. We always enjoy the Spirit class ships. Everything else was great. FlaParrotHead Posted June 20, 2011 #9 Share Posted June 20, 2011 Any feedback from the new Piano Bar singer H? Ok, so I have been waiting for other bar flies to ask this one. Mr. H was an enteresting bit of fun most nights . Let me explain us, my DW and I are regulars in the Piano above and beyond any other entertainment. We are red wine drinkers and would have 1-2 bottles sitting at the Piano. Mr. H is a Croation entertainer who has been playing instuments many years, He is new to the Piano Bar scene but (for our week of June 5th) really tried to have fun with us. He needs to add to his song list some, but I'm sure that'll come. It will be interesting with the new smoking policy as he and a few officers would take their smoke break together (just the facts, not wanting to turn his into smoking thread). Personally, I thought that he took too many (maybe just too long) breaks and frequently his songs were great just not always Piano Bar sing-a-long material. The bottom line is that we kept coming in each night and enjoyed "our place". B&B

This was our second time with an extended balcony and now it has become a cruise necessity:D. My DH says you could probably bowl out there! I spend alot of time out there and did sleep a couple nights! We had 2 lounge chairs and 4 regular chairs along with a small table. Never met the casino host but the rest of the casino staff was very nice. They had a few new slots that I hadn't seen before. Say hi to my money for me! NotlocTRD Posted June 23, 2011 #12 Share Posted June 23, 2011 We were in cabin 7161 and loved it! Spacious balcony and no noise from the Lido deck. Our room steward was Moran Contreras Olvin (he went by Olvin) and he was GREAT! Always had a smile on his face, always said hello/good morning/good night to you in the hall, always kept the room looking spotless and most importantly, kept the ice filled up at all times. :p

Never met the casino host but the rest of the casino staff was very nice. They had a few new slots that I hadn't seen before. Say hi to my money for me! Shoot...I didn't even notice the balcony right next door was huge also; and not handicap accessible. I was so blown away by this one I guess I just jumped! I asked my PVP if I'd get "bumped". (I'd requested it before I even noticed the accessible part) It says it's handicap accessible; but not sure how since it warns of a 3.5"-8" bathroom lip. PVP says doubtful, but if they do we would get "the same or better". Not sure "the same" includes the balcony; but we're going to believe that the lip and 29" door will make it less accessible! Will gladly give it up if it's necessary (so don't anyone slam me!) I thought the pictures showed 2 lounge chairs out there; but also thought perhaps it was an optical illusion!! Only balcony like that I had before was on the Spirit in Alaska and it was the aft wraparound next to it; and it was incredible...and cost a LOT more! What is the saying "too soon old, too late smart"?? :) Glad the casino staff were friendly. We were just on a Carnival Cruise (ship to remain nameless!) in May and the casino staff was either nonexistent or sad acting. I was a bit surprised as I'd spent quality time in there happily donating my money to the cause; and my presence was rarely acknowledged!;) I like a cold one to wash down my losses... Note...the whole ship seemed to have a grumpiness about it. Perhaps they were all getting towards the end of their contracts and were homesick. It was the fist time in many cruises I'd encountered a staff that seemed to be on strike. Notice it didn't stop me from rebooking! I'll say hello to your money as I say good bye to mine...OH! BTW...did they have the free drink in the casino card after 1500 points? We had that on the Dream in January and it was a huge blessing at S & S settlement time! I'd read somewhere on here a list of ships doing it now and Legend was on it at the time. Curious if you saw any advertisement of this in the Legend Casino. Thanks for the reply. I'm beyond excited about & positive I'll be spending a LOT of time on that balcony! Karen
BeccaBecca1713 Posted June 23, 2011 #14 Share Posted June 23, 2011 If there aren't any loungers out there on the balcony, but it's big enough for them, most stewards will go get some for you. crusinpsychRN Posted June 23, 2011 #15 Share Posted June 23, 2011 On Serenity deck were there any umbrellas or is the only shade in the loungers with the clamshells? I see they have a covered area but it's not lounges.

Adults only :) Hoping we're dock side or at least not facing ships (we were on the Dream Jan 11 and woke up each morning to the Oasis of the Seas getting her early morning scrub down!)..but whatever; I'm gonna be out there. I didn't make it that far since I played more Caribbean Stud and Three Card Poker this time than slots....and I don't drink either. But I'm positive they had the perk as they announced it often. crunchy05 Posted June 24, 2011 #22 Share Posted June 24, 2011 The new serenity deck is AWESOME! Fell asleep in the hammock. Love the new round canopy loungers. Quick Question- did you have to be out on the serenity deck early to get a hammock or canopy lounger. The last thing I want to do is get up early on my vacation just to secure a seat. I will be cruising on the Legend in August and I have heard about the chair hogs up and out early. Thanks. :)
