AJs Grandpa Posted June 15, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2011 We like port side-sailing out of FLL because the bells and lights signal our festive departure; similarly, we know sailing into Venice is best viewed from starboard (port for sailing out.) On the other hand most ports are "hit and miss" because docking position can vary. Is there any reason to choose one side or the other for the Golden cruise RT LA/Hawaii? hill6 Posted June 15, 2011 #5 Share Posted June 15, 2011 I think it depends. Pride of America does a Na Pali coast sail by after leaving Lihue. Many folks seem to think that the port side gets a much longer view than the starboard side does.

That it does, but you get a much better view of everything by being outside on the upper decks where you can take in the whole view.
