Hey guys its aussie first timer again im starting to panic,Ive booked a balcony for hubby and myself and an inside cabin for kids on deck 6 on the dream. I was a bit concerned after reading a post about noise on level 6 balcony coming from the promenade deck below. Does level 5 promenade deck close at certain times we are right above a spa, but after checking ship decks on line i am now concerned more about whats directly underneath us we have the lanai under us, and the kids have ocean plaza stage right below them. They arent young kids there teens so dont need early nights. What is the lanai and what sought of music is in the

ocean plaza, will it go all night, will we hear it from our rooms in bed at night. Please if any one can help i might need to change rooms but it was really hard getting two rooms close to each other so dont want to change rooms if it is not noisy at night, while trying to sleep. Thanks

We did the exact same thing with our kids when we went in April, but we were on Deck 8 - Verandah. I'm not sure about being on deck 6, but I wouldn't think you would have much of a problem. I guess it depends on when you use your balcony the most. It didn't seem like there were a lot of people out on the lanai in the evenings, more so during the day. But even then I didn't notice a lot of commotion going on. If I'm thinking right, the Blackjack band plays at the Ocean Plaza stage and I don't think you'll have any problem with noise unless the insulation is really bad. You didn't mention when you were going, so that could have some bearing on what kind of problem you would have also depending on how many kids are on board. I wouldn't stress over it too much if I couldn't move...you probably won't end up being in your cabin that much anyway. Have a great time - I wish we were going back again! It was awesome! I did a review on ours if you are interested - let me know and I'll send you the link.

Have fun!

I too, doubt that you'll have a problem with noise in your cabin. The "Ocean Plaza" has a variety of entertainment, but mostly a three piece group, who is very good, and IMO, not really too loud. There is also karaoke there in the afternoon on a couple of days, and occasionally trivia, etc. I wouldn't worry too much about it. You're going to have a GREAT cruise aboard "Dream". She's a wonderful ship. (We'll be sailing her again in September. Can't wait to get back aboard!) :D

I think most of the issues I have heard about with deck 6 balconies are privacy issues - being so close to lanai people can literally see into the balcony. I had a deck 8 balcony above a spa, and heard talking from where I was. Didn't bother me, and the hottub closed at 8 or 10 pm, depending on the day. If you can change, I would - but don't worry - the Dream is a lot of fun - just enjoy yourselves.

I have read post on line about the cabins above and below the Red Frog Pub complaining a lot about the noise. Do a search of the deckplans on the Dream and see what is above or below you specific area and go from there. If I was right above a nightclub or bar I would definetly move.

Your concerns are exactly why we booked a cove balcony this trip. We didn't want to be on deck 6 and were weary even about deck 7 because when I'm on my balcony reading a book, I really just like to see and hear the water. We also sleep with the balcony door open and I don't want to be woken up by drunk people stumbling out of the casino in the middle of the night. Plus, saved us some money!

we have always stayed on lido

my SIL did stay on the same deck.. and while the spas do close at nite ( i think 9 pm??) it all depends as the crowd on the ship... she did have a bunch of people who liked to hang out there ( promenade)

on chairs and were there till late... not that bad but wasnt quite ...

hope this helps.

she is a great ship and im sure you will have a blast

btw.. for the poster who thought the deck would interfere with a water view... on lido it wasnt an issue unless you like to lean over the rail and look straight down.. water views were great

There's no Red Frog pub on the Dream, yet. Just a tap in the atrium bar.

aussie mim, do look at the deck plans, if your aft of the casino, or forward the wasabi bar, you'll be okay privacy wise. O.P. dancing/music varies each night but the stage is in the middle of the ship so it may only affect the inside cabins, music sound does diminish on deck five the further away you go and I don't think it carries out side unless the doors open. So I doubt if it drifts much up or down. And, I do think it's quiet after midnight there. Even in the Caliente and Song lounges.

Thanks guys you have put my mind at ease a bit, if i can move i might but i know it was really hard finding cabins close together my kids are my main concern as they have an inside cabin right above the stage at the ocean plaza but if its only 3 piece band it might be ok and we are between the casino and caliente. thanks again

Blackjack Band, which has played on that stage for awhile, was a 4-piece band (bass, drums, electric/keyboards/fiddle/singer, & acoustic/lead singer). They may be on vacation when you're on the ship, but whoever is in their place will probably be along the same lines. They played until around midnight to 1:00, depending on the night. The style was light rock & a little country. I haven't yet read noise complaints from people staying above the Oceans Plaza.
