Pellaris Posted June 23, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2011 What are the advantages to using these signs on your cruise?
paul929207 Posted June 23, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2011 Other members of the Roll Call can find you. Can also be listed as a disadvantage
INeedAMaiTai Posted June 23, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 23, 2011 What are the advantages to using these signs on your cruise? I don't have CC signs, but I do make ones that help my kids recognize where our cabin is, along with other family members' cabins on the ship...and it's fun! Dayenu Posted June 24, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 24, 2011 If another cruise critic member passes your door, s/he may call you. Or not. It's also easier to recognize your door in a row of identical doors instead of looking for the cabin number that you may or may not remember or pay attention to :p I personally prefer a magnet on the door. MandD Posted June 26, 2011 #5 Share Posted June 26, 2011 You might like to check out this link. It contains some very clever ideas for door signs and some discussion on the why of signs. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=868538&highlight=sign
Steviewonder1 Posted June 26, 2011 #6 Share Posted June 26, 2011 It gives you a chance to be identified as someone from this Board. I have seen them on door art (I do on mine) and even on hats while going around the ship. I have run into folks in excursions and at the bars on the ship. Rare mitsugirly Posted June 27, 2011 #7 Share Posted June 27, 2011 A lot of people make their own. It's just a way for others on here to know that you are a member and where you are located. So like if you sign up for your roll-call and have been talking for months and made friends, they can find you easier. :)
RYMOMA Posted June 27, 2011 #8 Share Posted June 27, 2011 i made two 8x11 magnets for our room last year one stated it was our first cruise and our names, made i easier for the yo to find the room too the second was a thank you magnet for our steward again with our names and a nice background picture of Boston. Rare mitsugirly Posted June 27, 2011 #9 Share Posted June 27, 2011 You can also order the door magnets online and get them for free as several people did last year too. There were several designs to pick from and you put your names or whatever on them. You just have to pay for shipping. I think it might have been vista print or something like that. Maybe others will know.

No disrespect intended but... why would your steward want a magnet of someone that they worked for for a week, to put in his very limited cabin space. He doesn't even have a place to put magnets - especially one that big. I'm pretty sure your magnet went directly into the garbage.

I'm pretty sure your magnet went directly into the garbage. none taken even though i know it ended up in the garbage it is always the thought that counts, in my book. how many other people may have been in that cabin and maybe treated them poorly, you just never know. i teach my children to be respectful of others , especially working people who are their to assist you, not wait on you. Our steward was wonderful, i just wanted him to know that for just one week out of our busy lives he made the trip memorable for my kids. yes he was tipped extra too, but the magnet was just something extra, that was made at home before we left. marshhawk Posted June 27, 2011 #12 Share Posted June 27, 2011 I was wondering why any one would think that putting a CC sign on your cabin door might not be in your best interest. Do you think that the employees work against you, or work harder for you(thinking you might actually write a review) or are you worried that people from your roll call may find you?:p

Steviewonder1 Posted June 28, 2011 #14 Share Posted June 28, 2011 I write reviews of my experiences and post them here, go find them. I review everything from the Cabin Steward to the Bartender next to the Casino. I also tip in excess of the gratuities that are built into our cruise total for "Over and Above Performance" by the crew. The bartender is usually the one that gets it first, then the others. The two cruises shown are not the only one's I have been on, there were others before I joined this board. My nickname is "Mr Iceman" as I like for the Ice bucket to stay full all of the time except in the wee hours......
