bizzylady Posted June 26, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2011 Just booked my first cruise. It is on the Carnival Elation, leaving in November 2011. Staying on Main deck in area 6B. Wondering how the ship is, overall, as far as GOOD food, and fun things to do for a 50 and 51 yr. old couple? We are laid back, and not all party-type, but still want to have fun. I have read a few reviews that the food is marginal, and I am worried, cuz that is one thing I was really looking forward to, is all the FOOD! :) Any comments, tips, suggestions, etc.. for first time cruisers and about this ship, would be appreciated. Thanks.
Rare Essiesmom Posted June 26, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2011 Food is very subjective. If you like eating at the mainstream chains, like applebees, ruby Tuesday, Chili's, you will like the food. If you want more gourmet, you need to try a line other than the mainstream lines, i.e. a luxury line. Elation is a lovely ship, one of the more subdued of the Joe Farcus designed interiors. You might find your way to the Carnival board, under Cruise Lines A-O, for more details. EM
CruiserBruce Posted June 26, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2011 If you go over to the Cranival board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=215 you can get all the info you need for your cruise.
suezyq50 Posted June 26, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2011 As said, food is very subjective. I liked it. Dinners were great. Really good desserts. Pizza is really good, too. They do speciality sandwiches. Grill at the pool area is real good too. If you like sushi, it is offered between the casino and photo gallery. Opened predinner hours. We would stop there before dinner. It is not very well advertised but there is a farewell party the last evening. Free drinks. We liked the adult area located in the back of the ship. jbellpower Posted June 27, 2011 #6 Share Posted June 27, 2011 We have gone on the Elation once last year and are booked on it's farewell cruise out of Mobile, AL in October. It is a nice ship and the food is very good. As with ANY food, there will be things you like and things you don't. The pizza/sandwich shop is very good and is open 24 hrs per day. The room service menu is limited but we don't spend much time in our room anyway so that is no problem for us. The activities are good, there is a little something for everyone. We enjoy the karaoke and the live bands, the game shows, and the Dance Shows. Hope you have a great time!!
