Freedom Of The Seas

Recommended Posts

DH and I just booked our first balcony stateroom on FOS, sailing 12/17/2006. When we booked, we noted that we will be celebrating our second wedding anniversary. Does anyone know what Royal Caribbean will do for anniversaries?

December sounds so far away, but I'm hoping for time to fly really fast! We have a vacation to Hawaii scheduled in 2 months, but I'm more excited about the cruise than about Hawaii... shame on me! :) I feel so blessed to be able to go on 2 vacations this year!

This will be our second cruise, and we're hoping it will go smoother than the first. Our first cruise was on the Enchantment last October, but it was quite stressful leading up to it due to Hurricane Wilma. Our cruise was postponed, then finally cancelled, and having to make the "go or no go" decisions and arrangements caused us to need a vaction badly! We ended up on a modified 3-day cruise on the Sovereign, which was nice, but too short! We felt a bit cramped in our inside stateroom, too. We're looking forward to a whole week on a new ship, in a big room with a balcony! Props to DH for agreeing to splurge on this one! :)

Now I'm afraid that we'll be spoiled and will only want a balcony room on future sailings! Actually, my next goal is to book an aft balcony cabin on my NEXT cruise, now that I've been reading these boards! (I suppose the aft cabins on my FOS sailing are all booked... oh well.)

My DH and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary and I was wondering the same. Our son and his friend will be celebrating their graduation from high school, we decided to go in June and celebrate both. We're booked for the June 11th, 2006 sailing. I can't wait!!! DH and I have D1 balacony with son and friend across hall in an inside cabin on Deck 9.

I can't wait to start our cruise Dec 10th. We actually just returned from Disney World but had to book our flights to Miami yesterday. I can't stand the waiting... and the prices were actually pretty low. Not to mention the fact we also have an airline credit (from giving up our seats on a overbooked flight), so it was very sweet price. Now we just need to book our hotel for the night before (we usually fly in a day ahead of time to relax and enjoy the sights - don't want to miss the boat because of a delay in the flight etc).

I can't wait to get on board and see all the new items this ship is suppose to have for us to explore. And since I've never had a aft cabin before, I really cant' wait to see that.

I'm still wondering however, how that surfing thing is suppose to work. Does each person get an allotment of time riding it or.... Should be very interesting..

:D

If anyone returns from the FOS visit, can you please let me (us) know what the aft cabins, balcony look like (esp 1700). I'm so excited about getting our first Aft cabin. I can't wait to see how they compare to the other classes are they the same, or totally different in size etc.

thank you in advance -

Hello all,

I will be in cabin #2669 on the June 11th sailing of FOS. It will be my honeymoon, and we are very much looking forward to it! I have never been on a RC sailing, only Disney. We've already booked a few excursions, and we're looking forward to trying out everything we can fit into one week on this giant ship! Does anyone have any more info on ship features, etc, than they're releasing to the press?

Peg, I am so excited for you. WOW that must be great. Enjoy yourself and please take as many pictures as possible. I know when I go cruising, I usually take around 7 rolls (25 pic per roll). I just love taking pictures and showing them to everyone - on what a great cruise I had. I can't wait to take pictures of FOS and all the many new areas she has to offer.

I can't wait to soak in that hot tub ...:D :D and lay in those hammocks (if I can get one that is - DH probably won't get out of it.

I thought Freedom was only doing Western and according to schedules on the RCCL site thru May 2007 that is only what is listed... where did you hear about alternating routes?????

RCI put out a press release earlier this week naming the second Freedom Class ship and announcing the new itineraries that will be offered beginning at various times in 2007. Among the schedule changes, they announced that Freedom and Liberty would both sail on alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. One will sail on Saturdays and the other on Sundays. Their ports of call are indicated in one of the previous posts.

Does anyone have the starting dates for the Liberty and Freedom alternating in May of 2007? I am trying to plan a honeymoon cruise for my son and bride. They are getting married on Sat May 5th so I'm trying to get them on the Sun cruise. I was hoping for the Freedom going to the Western Carb. Please if someone has the dates I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks Chris

On the morning of May 12th (which by the way is under a full Scorpio moon influence), Freedom will anchor in New York Harbor off the Statue of Liberty while NBC's Today show broadcasts live from the ship. During the broadcast, Katherine Louise Calder, foster mother to over 400 children, will formally dedicate the ship.

That afternoon, Freedom will sail up the Hudson and dock at the old West Side cruise terminal to give Manhattan residents a close up view of the ship. After a couple more preview cruises out of Cape Liberty, Freedom of the Seas sail to Boston May 18th and remain there until May 22nd, when she will depart for her regular homeport of Miami.

Freedom will make several additional preview cruises out of Miami before commencing regular cruises on June 4th.

For the balance of the year, she will sail 7-night Western Caribbean itineraries from Miami with port calls Cozumel, Mexico; George Town, Grand Cayman; Montego Bay, Jamaica; and Royal Caribbean's private destination, Labadee, Hispaniola.

Hello. Good idea for a general question forum. I have one: I have seen all sorts of different figures showing the width of FOS. Some are 126 feet (even early RCCL fliers show that figure). I think RCCL.com says 185. And the length is about 82 feet longer than Voyager according to RCCL. So what are the real figures? Even RCCL info along the way doesn't agree. How difficult is it to post accurate figures? I'm so into cruise ships that I really like to know stats, especially before a cruise on a new ship. Will be on FOS this August and will take my tape measure to find out once and for all!!! (kidding).

Buchie614,

I am not sure what M&M is besides peanut or plain. ;-) Please enlighten me.

It is short for "Meet and Mingle". There is a rectangular box at the top of this page, and the first clickable entry is "Meet & Mingle info". Click on that and follow the instructions.

It's a Cruise Critic party they have while we are onboard!

See you there!

Tracy
