Rare Cruise Junky Posted July 7, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2011 To do: Visit the Casino, enjoy a drink at Cafe Paris and people watch, walk around the harbour, jaw open at the yachts ;), Visit the Palace, the Cathedral and generally walk around "the Rock" The aquarium is worth a visit. Shop, drop a few Euros at the normal folks casino to say you've gambled in Monte Carlo. I wouldn't venture out as far as Cannes. Nice wouldn't be a bad idea, or take the train/bus to Menton or Villefranche for lunch. Both are around 1 Euro on the bus that runs frequently. Rare Cruise Junky Posted July 7, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 7, 2011 Very easy to get around on your own. The Monaco public bus system is excellent if you don't feel like walking. If you scroll down a post or two, someone posted a link to the bus site.
zoncom Posted July 7, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 7, 2011 MC is tiny, no tour needed. One cannot get into Casino unless well dressed. As rec. above take the 1E bus, which stops near port, to Nice. Walk around Old Nice, see Marche and port. Walk Promenade des Anglais.

The casino next to Cafe du Paris has no dress code. it's only "The" casino in Monaco that has a dress code.
jagger16 Posted July 8, 2011 #7 Share Posted July 8, 2011 National Geographic Traveler Magazine has an article called 48 Hours: Monaco in the May/June 2011 issue. We are following that guide for our day trip to Monaco. I was not able to find a link to that article on-line, but maybe if you give it a try you might find it. Homber Posted July 11, 2011 #20 Share Posted July 11, 2011 We took the express bus to Eze Village for part of the day. It is a beautiful little village in the hills of France. Bus only takes about 15 minutes to get there.

Were you dropped off at the bottom near the Ocean or in front of the entrance to Eze? Thanks, Marlon
