10 weeks on - 10 off. But they could make arrangements for a longer or shorter rotation as needed.

yes, unless Capt Busto didn't sign onto EN. Someone said he might be going to AD.

Captain Shawn was still the Master of our 8/17 Enchantment OTS sailing. Sorry I didn't collect further info on when the relief Captain would be signing on.

If they do 10 week rotations, it looks like we might have Captain Johnny on Allure this Christmas... does that seem about right?

 

He is so much fun with his motorcycle, live parrot and his sweet wife on board.

 

All of the Captains are great, but we would love to see Captain Johnny again.I gave him a copy of my alligator cookbook that was published one year when we sailed with him, and he actually remembered me from one cruise to another.

I trust there are more than 50 people working in ship operation functions in the RCL office who hold a captains licence and have been a captain or senior officer on a ship before. Some of them also go back to the sea. Normally this is not a fixed rotation program but depends on projects and other demand for experts in the office. It is usually more demand when e.g. new ship classes or new security or other maritime requlations are coming out.

Master is Capt Toni Tomlk-something - from Croatia - only joined Royal in 2014. That's all I know so far. Don't even know if he is a staff captain filling in or if this is now his ship.

Sailed with Captain Kasselas twice on FR. He is great and very funny. Prior to OA class, he used to introduce himself as the smallest captain sailing the biggest ship on the sea.

Yet another update!

 

I decided to stay on the ship and do b2b instead of facing Erika today.

 

Saw Capt Shawn. He's Master again. He probably was busy during the week since there was scrubber work scheduled. (The ship was in Nassau for 50 hours rather than the usual Nassau and CocoCay.) From what he told me, Capt Toni was able to have a "dress rehearsal" (my words, not his) at the helm. Capt Toni has definitely been promoted to Capt and will take over EN at the next rotation.

4 have taken shore side positions in Marine Ops, 1 has retired, and 1 has resigned. Capt Karin is the one that has resigned. Tomorrow Capt Per Persson will be taking over on MJ, he is a permanently promoted stf cpt from MJ. I suspect it was Capt Sverre Ryan that retired, but I don't know for sure, I am guessing.

 

RCI has decided that instead of having a marine operations in each of its brands, it will have 1 department encompassing all brands (TUI, Pullmantur, Celebrity, Azamara, RCI, Croisiers d' France) so there was a need for more fleet captains. I don't know who the 4 are.
