Valor - Tired???

We are looking to book our next cruise and are considering the Valor on a back to back. The reviews seem to be varied with many saying it is tired, embarkation is a nightmare and food has slipped a bit along with the staff. We were loyal Carnival folks until a very disappointing Miracle cruise sent us to Celebrity last year. Should we consider the Valor or move on to other ships????

All I can say is that I sailed the Valor last year in Sept and had the best time.. loved the ship loved the crew.. was an awesome time... ;)

I am going on the Valor in November. It will be my 10th cruise, but only my second on Carnival. I watch very carefully whenever anything is said about this ship. However many good things have been said about her, some bad, but its the same way with all the ships anyway for one reason or another. I am excited to see for myself.

I'll be going on the Valor in a couple of weeks. I'll let you know. I've only heard good things lately. It just came out of dry dock a few months ago with alot of upgrades or so I hear. A friend of mine just sailed Memorial Day and loved it. I am so excited and so looking forward to it. :D

I too want to see the upgraded Valor, it'll be my 6th time on the ship this December. I usually cruise it because I like the Western itinerary and I can get a nice reasonably priced inside cabin on the empress or verandah deck when I cruise solo.

However, if my choice was between Valor and Celebrity, I would "jump ship" and embark on Celebrity.

I sailed on the Valor at the end of May and loved it. I didn't think the ship looked tired at all. It looked new and clean. Embarkation took a little longer than on my previous cruises but I wouldn't call it a nightmare at all. The food was about the same as on every other cruise we've taken, good but not the best. My daughter talks about our cruise every day and wants to back to the same ship and do the exact same cruise again. I would sail on the Valor again in a heartbeat.

Just got off the valor on sunday and it was better than when we were on it last year. Service was outstanding. Food was as good as i remember. Embarkation was nothing to complain about. The ship was always spotless and crew were always cleaning. The new serenity area was amazing! Have fun, you will love the valor!

Thanks to all of you who took the time to respond. We are still not sure which cruise to take as the Valor has a great itinerary and Celebrity has super service and few perks we like. We will let you know! Cheers:confused:

We were on the Valor the week of June 19-26. We have no complaints. I wish we could have stayed on for a back-to-back. It is a beautiful ship with an excellent staff. Everything was wonderful. The entertainment was excellent. I would pack and go tomorrow, if possible.

Was on the Valor July 3 - 10, everything was perfect.

I sailed on Valor during these dates too and had a great cruise.

The only thing I came away with was that I probably would have gotten more sleep if I hadn't booked a stateroom on the Upper Deck (deck 6) directly above the Shogun Casino Band area. A lesson learned and one never to be repeated. Other than that, Valor is a great ship!

I was on Valor Oct. '08 and at that time it was not in the best condition I have ever seen but had only been on Disney other than that and they are absolutely pristine. I still had a good time over all but I will point out the few negatives since you're asking :) The pool tiles needed to be re-done, I hated the lay out (felt like it took a few days to figure it out, then you were going home), outside paint was faded, entertainment was pretty corny (except for the comedians), and disembarking at ports and to come home was a nightmare (at least again only compared to Disney). I did notice as we were leaving that they were re-painting the faded red paint I thought looked so shabby when we were on board and it sounds like it has had even further sprucing up since I was on. Again, over all it was a good trip and worth the money paid.

I actually enjoyed Valor slightly more than Dream. The crew seemed just fine, food was good, no major complaints other than it turned me into a cruise addict.

Valors is 10 times better than the Dream imo. So far, valor is my best cruise ever.
