sunchaser1008 Posted August 7, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2011 Hi everyone, because we are first time cruisers, I have been actively researching this board & others. From what I have gathered, some people put door signs on cabin doors to distinguish their room from others. Is this done mostly on the larger ships or is it also done on Oceania? (We are booked on the Med cruise for next June) Just hoping to "fit in" & not stick out like a sore thumb ;)
Rare LHT28 Posted August 7, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2011 Have only seen one on an Oceania cruise I do not think most people on Oceania feel the need to stand out ;) Or maybe it is just me Join the ROLL CALL and meet some of your fellow cruisers http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=420%22 Lyn
A Knitter Posted August 7, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 7, 2011 I have seen this on 2 O cruises if there is a family reunion or celebration. Other than a special event, I don't see the need. IMO:D
gillianrose Posted August 7, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 7, 2011 Does Oceania put name signs outside the doors? Princess does or did, and I didn't like it so we removed ours. I think it's tacky.
wripro Posted August 7, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 7, 2011 What's wrong with just a cabin number?
gillianrose Posted August 7, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 7, 2011 What's wrong with just a cabin number? Nothing. That's what I like. Just cabin numbers, or if a suite, the name of the suite is OK. I just wanted to know if Oceania also includes passenger names outside the cabin, like Princess does or did. (It's been too many years since we took a Princess cruise for me to know what they are doing now.)

skigrams Posted August 7, 2011 #9 Share Posted August 7, 2011 And Princess doesn't do the name thing outside your door anymore either. I have only seen one CC sign on an Oceania Cruise. It disappeared in about two days. Bobi
orchestrapal Posted August 7, 2011 #10 Share Posted August 7, 2011 We had a university group on one of our O cruises that must have encouraged it's members to put out door signs. Thankfully, they were all removed by the first night of the cruise never to be seen again.:)
neepawa Posted August 7, 2011 #11 Share Posted August 7, 2011 Princess continues to have name signs in the hall outside each cabin as we experienced on our Crown Princess cruise in April 2011. Don
skigrams Posted August 8, 2011 #12 Share Posted August 8, 2011 Princess continues to have name signs in the hall outside each cabin as we experienced on our Crown Princess cruise in April 2011. Then I guess each Princess ship can do whatever they desire in the way of putting the names outside the door. I was on the Diamond ibn March 2010 and that was the very first thing I noticed when going to my cabin. Even made a comment to my roommate. I, personally, prefer not to have my name outside the door of my cabin. Different strokes for different folks - in this case Princess. BillPizzaiolo Posted August 8, 2011 #13 Share Posted August 8, 2011 We use a door sign that CC provides to announce that we were members of a roll call and we would see everyone at the Meet and Greet. After a day or two we take it down. One of our neighbors had asked questions about CC as they never heard of the board or the roll calls. We felt it "broke the ice" in helping meet other cruisers. http://www.cruisecritic.com/doorsign.pdf Bill & Jeannie
sunchaser1008 Posted August 8, 2011 Author #14 Share Posted August 8, 2011 Thanks for the info, I was hoping NOT to have to put anything on our door!:D
TKS Posted August 8, 2011 #15 Share Posted August 8, 2011 Am I wrong, or was this discussed months ago, and someone indicated on their O cruise housekeeping took down their CC name plates?
