Obc

There are two kinds of OBC

OBR is refundable to your credit card at the end of the cruise

OBN is designated non-refundable

The ship will use the OBN first and then use the OBR

You can withdraw the On Board credit (either kind) at the casino for a 3% fee.

We get 2 OBCs .One from Celebrity;because we book a cruise while on a ship for $200 deposit .This entitles you to OBCon the next cruise:D .

We also get OBCs from our TA:D .

When we cruise we use the OBCs for paying our tips & usually have some left over:p. We spend it on the ship :p.However, we could get credit since the left over OBCs was from our TA & those are refundable to our CC .

Some OBC's (as pp said) are refundable. Just off the Infinity, I stopped by guest relations to check on the remaining OBC on my account at the end of the cruise, they told me it was a fully refundable kind of OBC. I had OBC from both X and my TA, X used their credit first, then went to the TA's. We got off the ship and the credit posted to the credit card they had on file when we boarded.

Good to know! We are doing prepaid tips. I was thinking of paying the 3% penalty so the OBC didn't go unused, but since it's from our TA, maybe we can just credit it back to the CC. :)

Trust me, it is hard to get a refund since you end up spending all of that OBC. Only thing that helps is pre-paying for specialty dining, tips and shore excursions. Then you might get the refund. Buy a drink package on board and the refund most likely goes bye-bye :D. One trip to the spa can dent OBC dramaticly :). Do some laundry, unless you are Elite, and some more of the OBC goes. Went through $850 of OBC last cruise and got $30 refunded . But had a really great cruise ;).

Your on-board account (view it on your TV or go to Guest Relations) will designate OBN or OBR, so you can keep track of what's what. Also, it usually takes a couple of days for the credits to begin appearing on your account, but if not there by day five, definitely go to Guest Relations and check on it.

There are a handful of travel agents who specify that their on=board credit cannot be used for certain things, but assuming you are not working with one of them, your on-board credit is simply a credit against your expenses, whatever they may be. Gratuities (if not already pre-paid), gift shop purchases, casino, drinks, beverage packages, shore excursions, bingo cards, spa treatments, haircuts, anything on your account.

But you cannot use it until you are on-board. So if you order a drink package on line prior to cruising, you will be paying for that immediately on order and wouldn't be able to use any kind of OBC for it.
