wtevrfltsurbt Posted March 28, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 28, 2005 What cruise lines make the towel animals for the kids? We are going on the Mercury (Celebrity) and was wondering if they do the animals as well. Thanks! Have you ever kept a "towel animal" ?
TexasDH Posted March 29, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 29, 2005 We took pictures of the towel animals on our last cruise -- consequently the first time in our many that they were actually done! To answer your question, Cher Amie, I hear that it is pretty much line-wide on Royal Caribbean... don't know about any others, but I can say that there were none on our previous cruises -- see below! :)
SunnieD Posted March 29, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 29, 2005 I just spent a week on The Serenade of The Seas (Royal Caribbean) and there was a new towel animal each of the last 5 nights of cruise. I spent an hour with our porters learning how to make them as my kids were not with me. Also on the last day at sea they had a class on how to do it. heatherb1958 Posted March 29, 2005 #5 Share Posted March 29, 2005 you can buy "mini" towel animals in the gift shop on Royal caribbean now. I bought the monkey. There are about 4 to choose from and are inexpensive plus they dont fall apart !!!
mared1 Posted March 30, 2005 #6 Share Posted March 30, 2005 Carnival also sells small ones in their gift shop - in addition they sell a book telling how to make the towel animals. Taking one the cabin stewart makes would be difficult as they tend to fall apart when moved.
serene56 Posted March 30, 2005 #7 Share Posted March 30, 2005 I wonder if this is why Carnival charges for towels. I agree with the above poster--as soon as you touch it the animal always fell apart.
spocruiser Posted April 17, 2005 #8 Share Posted April 17, 2005 On the R.C. Jewel of the Seas two weeks ago, they offered a short class on how to make them. We also took pictures. My boys really liked the monkey!
BaumD Posted April 17, 2005 #9 Share Posted April 17, 2005 There was a big article in the travel section of the Washington Post about a book Carnival sells with instructions on towel animals for $12.95. They spent hours trying to make a few of the animals but said they kept falling apart.
megr1125 Posted April 17, 2005 #10 Share Posted April 17, 2005 We took pix of all of ours....(5 plus the last one was a heart.) We had a little "zoo" on the desk til the last day. Our cabin steward thought my mom (seasoned cit) and I (not tellin'!) were nuts! After the second night when she realized I was reliving my childhood....she left us extra towels since I refused to dissect my critters!
