cruisingin2011 Posted September 9, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2011 Looking for some smart ways to "wall off" where DS will sleep. Our cabin does not have a built in curtain. So I am thinking a sheet of some kind and somehow making it stay up. I am sure someone has tried and either knows what to do or not do. Balcony was not in the budget for this cruise so we are in an oceanview(NCL Star) and will need to put him down for naps and night while still in the room. Would love any tips. cb at sea Posted September 9, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2011 I can't think how you'd get a divider up....is there a curtain over the window? How about sticking the crib behind that...sort of like a draped canopy!
Rare Essiesmom Posted September 10, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2011 From pictures as usual, the curtains only go as far as the windowsill. EM
gaylemh Posted September 10, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2011 If you are using a crib or pack and play, you could put a sheet over it, and make it like a tent.
Camlott Posted September 10, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 10, 2011 The ceilings of most rooms are metal, you could try sheets held up with magnets. I didn't try this, so not sure if the ceiling panels are aluminum which wouldn't work.

momof3cruisers Posted September 12, 2011 #7 Share Posted September 12, 2011 We have taken kids ages 2 (twice) 1, and 3 on cruises and what we have done is just lay down and pretend to go to sleep. They usually get tired of trying to talk to you when you keep your eyes closed pretty quickly. Once they are asleep, we get up but just stay quiet. Yup, we do the same, just lay there and pretend to sleep. The cabin is so small that even if you were to block some of it off your little one would likely still hear you and see the lights on. On our Disney cruise with the curtain pulled, DS just kept reaching for it and pulling it open to see what we were doing. It was worthless, lol. There wasnt room to put the crib any farther away from it so it really served no purpose. Hopefully you can figure something out if not just lay there and pretend to sleep :) Good luck. Mom2B&Z Posted September 13, 2011 #9 Share Posted September 13, 2011 Bring a small flashlight and a good book. That way when you "lie down to sleep" you can get some good reading in :)
Delkee Posted September 14, 2011 #10 Share Posted September 14, 2011 We use 3M removable hooks on each side of the room and twine...then drape an extra sheet over the twine to make a room divider. The 3M hooks are great because they come off with no damage to the walls.

Once he fall asleep, we could still talk in low voices, and even turn on one of the light by the bed he was not bothered, and continued his sleep. Our son is 15 months.
