When In Port in the Bahamas is Casino open? or Closed

I know in some ports the ships casino will stay open if that port allows gambling. Does anyone know if the Casino is open when the Sky is in Nassua or Grand Bahama?

AFAIK, the casino is closed when the ship is in port.

No, the ship's casino is not open when in port at Nassau, and I assume not in Grand Bahama either.

We have taken numerous cruises and have never seen a casino open when the ship is in port.:)

On NCL the casino was open when the ship was in Barbados. Its not open in the Bahamas.

On the Jewel in August, the casino was closed in Nassau but it is open when we were at the private island Great Stirrup Cay.

That's because there's no competing casino on the land on Great Stirrup Cay, and NCL owns that property so they can make any rules they want when they stop there.

The fact that they own the property doesn't automatically give them the right to open the casino. It has to be permitted under Bahamian law. I own my home and the land on which it sits, but that doesn't give the the right to open a casino in my den.

On RCL Monarch of the Seas, the ship was in Nassau until midnight but the casino opened in the early evening. Maybe the Bahamas makes exceptions after certain hours?

Thanks for all the replies. I have been in port before with casino open, I just can't remember where. But I was pretty sure it did have to do with local laws on gambling.

That's right. I was also on a cruise some years ago that stayed in Nassau until late at night, and the casino was allowed to open after a certain hour...as permitted by local law.
