Pack and Go Rate Shortcomings

Im for all the pack n goes they want to publish... more, more. I dont see why people think the term pack n go should equal, get the lowest price.

Would you want to limit how far out they offer other rates to fill the ship like senior rates .. I dont get why people want to change the pack n go terms. Its been said here so often, .. only ES gives you price drops after final payment. .. and if you book pack n go .. it says you pay in full at the time of booking.

I would rather people not book this if they dont agree to the terms, than tell everyone else how far out these can be booked. I dont like lots of the pack n go rates .. so if I feel they are too high, I just wouldnt book, but not because they are offered before or after final payment, that wouldnt be a consideration.

Let Carnival market is however they like as long as they disclose the terms.

Most people know alot of SALES are not really sales at all.

Early saver works for some. Pack N go for others. Lots of options. But the bottom line is the buyer must do due diligence and take responsiblity for their decisions.

Thanks Fire.... people do need to be aware of the requirements of a rate before attempting to book them, that's for sure. But what I was asking about specifically was the Casino VIP rate that okwriter mentioned - I've never heard of that one, have you??

yes, okwriter posted her own thread about it and posted to other threads, so I was aware of it. I think you have to qualify for it to even see the rate. I just put money into the slot and someone showed me how to set up a bank in the casino so fast, went right over my head.

You have to join the casino club too, and some people have been emailed casino rates... okwriter was even able to ES price match to the casino rate and get the OBC for the price drop and OBC from the casino rate as I understood her posts.

That's a new one on me - can you give more info on that fare rate, like requirements, qualifications, etc.?

If you have any current cruises booked OR if you intend to book anything in the near future, their current promo run through Sept. 22 (I think). Call your PVP and ask them if you are eligible. It is based on past casino play on the slots *if* you used your S&S card while gambling.

It beats ES rates hands down, and it has very few restrictions. For example, I booked a balcony cabin on the 11/26 Triumph sailing for two people using this rate. Then a few days later, I called and changed it to three people. Then I called a few days later and split it into two cabins (one balcony and one inside) for four people. We still have until final payment (9/27) to make further changes, cancel, whatever. PVP said if we cancel before then, we get the full deposit back. But, of course, we aren't gonna cancel. :D

I also have a 4/22 sailing on Magic booked ES. I was able to price match to the VIP Casino Rate for that cruise. We aren't at final payment yet, so I got a rate reduction on our balance. :D
