CarolRoy Posted September 19, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2011 Need some info. We will be in Nafplion on HAL October 10, 2011 from 8:00AM to 4:00PM. There is a ship's tour to Ancient Corinth and the canal in the morning 8:30AM-1:00PM. If this tour worth it? If we do this tour, it will leave about 3 hours to see Nafplion. Is that enough time? We would like to see the fortress Palamidi Castle in Nafplion. Is there enough time for this? Also if you think Ancient Corinth and the canal is not worth it, would you suggest Epidarus or Mycenae? Has anyone walked from the port to Palamidi Castle? How long is the walk and how long did it take? I did research on CC and there is not too much on Corinth. Hopefully, someone will come to my aid. maryann ns Posted September 19, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2011 I guess it depends upon your interests, but Mycenae and Epidaurus were better for me than Ancient Corinth, though we did find it interesting too. We took two days with a car from Athens to tour around here, but still did not have time to see the castle. We liked the old town of Naphlion which is very charming but if you don't have time that is what I would leave out.
Rare RachelG Posted September 19, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 19, 2011 Palamidi Castle was closed the day we were there, so didn't get to climb up to it. It is really close to the port though. We could see it, and we would have gone there on foot had it been open. SO, we rented a car and went to Epidarus and Mycenae. They were both interesting sites, but the highlight of the day was eating lunch at a restaurant we just happened on. The owner kept just bringing us food since there was no menu. Roasted lamb, moussaka, stuffed grape leaves, etc--yum.

Rare TLCOhio Posted September 19, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 19, 2011 From your original question, in a way, ALL are good and great to see. Agree with some of the comments by Mary Ann. Much depends on your personal interests, what type of history and architecture you like to see, etc. Below is a little sample of what we saw when visited in this very interesting area. Nafplion is nice, but the other options are more unique and special. THANKS! Enjoy!
