Which Pier in San Juan

STREETKING

Recommended Posts

You will dock right in Old San Juan. Cross the street and you have walking access to the forts, shops, restaurants, churches, park, bars etc

We love Old San Juan and always look forward to another visit there.

Sail7seas, do you have a favorite place to have lunch in Old San Juan? We have never been there. This is only or 2 cruise and love adice from the people who know. We have not booked any shoe excursions for this city because we wanted to do some walking and exploring on our own.

Thanks:D:D

We always have lunch (and dinner if we sail away late) ashore in San Juan as we love the food.

Here is a link to the San Juan port of call forum. You'll find a number of great threads about restaurants there. Lots of talk about food. :) Worth reading IMO

The El Convento Hotel in the heart of Old San Juan (100 Cristo Street) is within easy walking distance of the dock.

Both their El Picoteo (bar area) or Patio Del Nispero are great places for lunch. They both offer a beautiful venue and traditional Puerto Rican menus in a nice relaxed atmosphere.

It is our favourite.

El Jibarito is my favorite at the moment.

Home-style Puerto Rican cooking at a reasonable price. I ate there for the first time 2 years ago and went back in August. It was quite obvious the second time around that the tourists have discovered the place.

Not that it's totally a bad thing... but they did raise prices and went a la carte on some of the previously-included side dishes that we loved. On the plus side, the waiters now speak English.

We just love these boards. We are in San Juan from 1pm to 8pm so this just turned into a happy hour type dinner. Lunch on the ship then on to the old town sights. I am not a big shopper outside of Florida. Hence the name Flashopper. But we love good food. No mobility issues that won't be fixed by Nov. DH had to have major detached retina surgery in early August so he is a bit blind on one side but should be OK by then. Walking is fine.:) Climbing to altitude, not so much.
