David Cole was CD on Mercury the week we sailed, 4/4-4/11. As I wrote in my review, for lack of a better single word, he was dorky. But perhaps a good manager -- as his staff was spectacular.

John Howell is currently on the Horizon, but only for a couple more weeks. His next ship is the Infinity, and I believe he'll be there from July until Nov. He is our favorite cruise director so far. Very talented, and loves his job.

I agree with you on John Howell. We sailed with him on both the Zenith and the Horizon and he really is the best. I just wish he would stay on the Infinity until December when we cruise to Hawaii.

Galaxy - Susan Woods. A very nice lady and extremely approachable. I was very impressed with her. Previous year we had Julian Bersch on Mercury. 5 out of 10.

Alan King is the CD on Century, he is really great. He's the only cruise director I've ever seen that spends a lot of time mingeling(sp?) with the passengers, both on the ship and in the ports. He was very friendly whenever we ran into him. On our first Century cruise the CD was Mike Witte and we never saw him except at the shows.

First time I sailed Century the CD was Allen King,

2nd time, was Rick Spath.

Last month on the Mercury was Julian Bersch.

Julian has been with Celebrity for more than 15 years I believe. He knows ALL ABOUT Cruise Critic icon_biggrin.gif.

He told me he was on the Century for many years..from her Inagural Sailing until.....I can't recall when he first went to another ship but he is very nice!

Next up...HORIZON Sept 18th to Bermuda!

Just got off the Summit yesterday. Simon and his assistant, Stuart were both a lot of fun. They joined us at an informal cruise critic pool bar gathering on the last day. Simon also announced the get together in the daily. I didn't realize his brother was on another ship.

I just got off Infinity on Sunday and the CD was Rich Clessen. He was very good.

I have sailed Millennium twice and Edwin Rojas is also pretty good.

teedee......We didn't think much of Mike Witte when we had him on the Century. He is no longer employed by Celebrity, BTW.

Just got off the Galaxy yesterday and our CD was Donnell Davis. He was a lot of fun. Not sure how long he'll be on the Galaxy but if he was on the Zenith as recently as 4/11 I guess he might be on Galaxy for a while now.

No, I don't work for celebrity.

I mean "are they talented at what they do?"

Rich Cleeson was CD on NCL, he was the cruise director on the Dawn in September and February,

very personable.

I haven't sailed Celebrity in a long time and was curious.

Honestly I can't remember any cruise directors I've had on other ships except for Simon Weir on the Summit and he was great. He spent lots of time among the guests on the ship - he was interested in our opinions of the ship and staff and was very proud of his staff and the Summit. I can't wait to sail again with him in October.

Wasn't too impressed with Shawn on the Zenith 4/11. Of course I had just come off the Horizon with John Howell and that's a tough act to follow! I did witness Shawn blow off a passenger who offered to buy him a drink in a not too friendly way. Thought he could have handled it much better and not left the guy feeling embarassed for even asking.

Apparently on the Horizon and Infinity now, John Howell was on the Century when we sailed in Aug, 03. John did a fine job as MC and Host, but we remember a quiet sea day afternoon while having a cup of coffee when John walked by and said hi. We invited him to join us, which he did and we had a delightful conversation before he was off - he stayed "not too long and not too short". Conversation was certainly along the lines of information gathering, but he left us feeling he was sincerely interested in our cruise experience being a good one. A true gentlemen. We're now booked for the eastern Carribean this August, and we will certainly miss John.
