SFCAcruiser Posted October 4, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2011 Re: Equinox cabin selection Two of us (adults) are considering a cabin in a good location, but we saw that it sleeps two on the sofa and has an "upper berth". We have no need for this berth and wonder if it gets in the way at all, or will we not notice it? We really just want a standard balcony cabin with a king bed and would not want a cabin that decreased our sense of spaciousness (what little there is). But the standard cabins that remain available are in less desirable locations for us. So, what are your opinions about the upper berth? Thanks. nijh Posted October 4, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2011 The upper berths fold away into the ceiling and are only brought down by the Steward if they are needed. When folded away you will not know they are there.
smtcan Posted October 4, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 4, 2011 We had the same concern last year after experiencing an upper bunk on Century that was about 10 inches down from the ceiling and really impacted on the space in the cabin. On Eclipse, (S class) the bunk was flush with the ceiling, so you could only see the outline of it. If you didn't know it was there you would not even notice it. Rare cruisestitch Posted October 4, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 4, 2011 You should know that when the beds are together they are not as large as a King Bed -- they are approximately what a Queen bed is.
bdpnatl Posted October 4, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 4, 2011 Good information to have, we are looking at a last minute cruise deal and saw the only available cabins had a bunk. Also did not want to give up the space or hit my head on it, but it sounds like that is not a problem on the S class.
excitedofharpenden Posted October 4, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2011 This was a cabin I had with an upper berth and a trundle bed. You can see the outline of it in the ceiling above the sofa and the pull out bed underneath: Phil
Rare whitshel Posted October 5, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 5, 2011 And this is what it looks like when its made up. We had four in this cabin and there was plenty of room for us.
