TNGALOHA Posted June 14, 2013 #3176 Share Posted June 14, 2013 Gorgeous dress for a beach wedding in Hawaii. AZCruisegirl-If you are still looking for dresses for Hawaii a good place to shop is HiloHatties.com. They have some great dresses and they are right in Honolulu, Maui and Kauai if I remember right. In fact if you are staying in Waikiki before the cruise you can take the Hilo Hatties bus to the flagstore in Honolulu and they give you round trip bus fare free. It really is a nice experience. We have done it many times and enjoy it everytime. Gerry

Hi Laurie yes it came in 2 weeks ago. I was a little nervous because it was made to order and they wanted me to send in my measurements and there were no returns if it didn't fit. So to be on the safe side I went a little bigger just in case. It does need to be taken in a little but it is exactly what I wanted and well worth the price. wx4caster Posted June 15, 2013 #3182 Share Posted June 15, 2013 Hi all, I could really use your input. Earlier this week, I went out shopping intending to get a blingy blouse for formal night and unexpectedly, bought a black dress instead - this one: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/js-collections-shirred-crepe-cocktail-dress/3457740?origin=category-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=&resultback=756&cm_sp=personalizedsort-_-browseresults-_-undefined_3_C Even though I'm on the curvier side, this dress is lovely but now I'm stumped about shoes. Due to a SCI (spinal cord injury), I can't wear heels or strappy sandals (hence the plan to get a blouse). I've been leaning toward wearing my Naturalizers (similar to http://www.naturalizer.ca/Shopping/ProductDetails.aspx?p=EC0100835&pg=7006375 with much thinner laces) but found these (http://www.naturalizer.ca/Shopping/ProductDetails.aspx?p=EC0110484&pg=7006710) and thought they might be a bit better. Ideally, I'd like to wear my blue Keens but that probably wouldn't go over well.:p
Deamagoli Posted June 15, 2013 #3183 Share Posted June 15, 2013 Both of those shoes are good choices. Have you looked at DSW Shoe Warehouse? They have several pair of flats that have good cushioning and a wider base that may work also. The dress you chose is beautiful by the way.:D

islandhoppingfool Posted June 15, 2013 #3185 Share Posted June 15, 2013 I am going to be brutally honest...(sorry). This dress is amazing. Absolutely beautiful. I think the look of the dress will be ruined by both of those shoes. magandab Posted June 15, 2013 #3186 Share Posted June 15, 2013 I just ordered the Naturalizers yesterday, in Red Pepper. I think the are very cute! Try Amazon before you buy, they carry a huge selection of that type of shoe, at great prices.

Some cute shoes there, but I really can't wear flats at all. Or rather, I can wear flats if they have really good ankle support. Even the Naturalizers I have are sort of iffy in that respect. BTW Lisa, awesome dress!

I am searching for shoe options for you as well. I have major issues with the tendons in my right foot, so I completely understand where you are coming from. I have not been able to wear heels since Summer of 2006. If you go with the one with laces, you could switch the laces out with 2" wide ribbon. I have done that with some of mine and it looks cuter than the laces that come with them. Just wrap tape around the ends of the ribbon to get them laced and then remove the tape. The dress is gorgeous and can be made to look on the edgier side with accessories. How about wearing black tights, black ruffle ankle socks, and the lace up naturalizers (switch the laces out for ribbon). I was looking at Japanese trends and that's how I came up with this... http://tokyofashion.com/hakui-vintage-style-polka-dot-skirt-round-glasses/tk-2012-03-20-003-005-harajuku/ Lisa

KandCsailing Posted June 15, 2013 #3198 Share Posted June 15, 2013 Ideally, I'd like to wear my blue Keens but that probably wouldn't go over well.:p Very cute dress. I can't wear heels either because I have extremely flat feet. If Keens fit you well have you considered this pair that are a Mary Jane style? I'd prefer them being solid black but I still like them. I like RedHeadTexan's idea of adding ribbon laces to the other shoes as well. I rarely remember what other peoples shoes look like. Only remember them if I wish I had them or if they are unable to walk in their sky high stilletos. I spent dinners and the last formal night of our first cruise wearing cheap blue flip flops that I bought in the on board gift shop because it was the only pair in my size. I'd packed the wrong pair of shoes and they gave me huge raw spots on the first formal night. Our first port was Nassau on a Sunday and all the shops were closed. http://www.zappos.com/keen-toyah-mj-black
wx4caster Posted June 15, 2013 #3199 Share Posted June 15, 2013 KandC, I find it amusing that you suggested Mary Janes. It finally occurred to me I might have better luck searching for orthopedic dress shoes and came up with http://www.drewshoe.com/storeproduct450.aspx and http://www.healthyfeetstore.com/aravon-maya-womens-shoe.html - fancier Mary Janes! BTW, I like the ribbon idea and it's cheaper than new shoes.
