Flob1954 Posted October 7, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 7, 2011 Its been awhile since cruising on Holland America. Do past cruisers of Holland America (Mariners) board any earlier or is it first come first board type thing ?
catl331 Posted October 7, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 7, 2011 First come, first serve unless you have a suite.
RuthC Posted October 7, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 7, 2011 First come, first serve unless you have a suite. Or are boarding in a wheelchair. HAL wants the "pushers" to be finished asap.

RuthC Posted October 8, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 8, 2011 Or are a 4-star Mariner. Almost. Four * Mariners have priority check-in, not priority boarding. There's a slight, but real difference. If the boarding numbers are given out before the passenger gets in line, then 4* passengers don't jump to the head of the line to board. They only spend less time in line to check in. The reality, however, is that having priority check-in does tend to move a person further up to board, just not all the way to the head of the line. Mary Ellen Posted October 8, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 8, 2011 Ruth is correct. (NO surprise there. ;) ) We once witnessed a 4* have a major meltdown because they hadn't read the 4* perks close enough and believed the priority check-in also gave them priority boarding.

Krazy Kruizers Posted October 8, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 8, 2011 On most cruises the PS passengers are escorted onto the ship first. Followed by the wheelchair and scooter people. Then the Deluxe Suites go next - S, SA, SB and SC. Then the numbers and 4 star people are called next and so forth.
