how much do you spend

Zero. Gambling is stupid because the house always wins in the end. You might as well flush your money down the toilet and save yourself the effort of loosing it in the casino.

DON

And eating...you do end up flushing it down the toilet...always

I consider gambling an activity...just like anything else...and I have a budget for it.

I enjoy slot machines....I have fun...even if I lose. I don't expect to win.

At home I budget $100/week.....on a cruise it's maybe $50/day...but since the number of machines are limited....I get bored.

Usually $100 a day between the two of us on a cruise, and $100 a day each in Vegas. We love the slots.....it is just fun for us and part of the expense of our trip....don't expect to win.....but sometimes we do:D

I have taken a few statistics course in university and fully understand that the house is in favor of winning. We just do it for fun! I don't spend a lot on alcohol during the cruise, so I figure I can spend my money in the casino.....with lady luck;)

The most I have ever gambled was only $50 and boy was it exciting. I can see how a person could become addicted. I have never really gambled since then, only a few dollars on slots passing thru. I can't take the smoke (allergies), so I have to avoid the casino, which probably prevented me from developing a cruise gambling habit after my first experience. I like to sit outside and watch, though. It's like a secret world in there:cool:

I am up $52.00/lifetime winnings. Been that way for about 10 years

now and no plans to ever 'gamble' again.

On a whim I played a slot machine leaving the Sunset Station, Las Vegas

...hit for fifty-two bucks and cashed out and flew home.

We still visit Vegas for the shows.

:cool::cool:

Sorry. My answer is 0$ in the casino.

Can you elaborate on that? In particular, when you say "gamble", is that the cumulative amount that you put at risk (i.e., "gamble") or is that the amount you lose? I'm always confused when people say they "gambling" $X. For example, if you put in $20 and play 4 X 25 cent slots (so a dollar a pull), once you've pulled 20 times, you've "gambled" $20. But your balance isn't zero because although, on average, you lose far more often than you win, you still do win occasionally. So, on average, after 20 pulls at $1 per pull, you still probably have a balance around $12, because you've won every so often.

Do you really mean that you "lose" $100 per week, every week, 52 weeks per year (so just over $5,000 in after-tax income per year)?

LOL..I never learned to gamble and when i cruised by casino, seeing the cute older couples form my huge couples and singles table on the Paradise..clearly they were having fun..I got a kick out of your "secret world in there"..LOLOLOL..yes I would not like a real habit but would love to learn a couple easy people games and say 50 to 100 bucks a cruise or something...on a lots of sea days cruise, but lost 40 bucks twice in casinos in Oregon and not a fun habit to me...Sarah

Haven't yet taken my 1st cruise but for vegas I budget about $250/day -- However, I plant myself down at the tables and gamble gamble gamble. I win sometimes, I lose sometimes - that's okay though.

For the cruise, as the casino won't really be my primary activity I am planning on budgeting about $100/day ..

About once a week I go to the local casino. I have an envelope with me. It always has $100 in it. Sometimes it comes home with more, sometimes less...and sometimes $0.

The next week I put $100 in that envelope......

So, if I went every week...and lost everything....I'd lose $5200.

But...I don't lose everything...every week...just some weeks :)

Sometimes I lose $100 in an hour or two...and sometimes it lasts a whole day....and sometimes...if I'm doing well...I leave with a fat envelope in an hour or two.

I don't keep a spreadsheet on it.....I just know that the max I would lose that day is $100.

So..to answer your question...I do not lose $100 a week. I fill my envelope with $100 a week...and don't gamble anything more than that.

I live between two Casino's in Louisiana..I have never been! I work 10 hr. days..so if I prefer to spend it in the ship Casino, instead of junk food, or trinkets, I feel perfectly justified! My sister and I do it because we enjoy the atmosphere! We find it relaxin and fun, and if it's money we've put aside for it, what concern is it to others??? I put aside 100.00 a night, and I enjoy EVERY min. of it! Can't take it with you? Happy times and laughs with friends has no price! You never know what tomorrow will bring! So I say..enjoy every moment you can!....sidenote....am QUITE abit ahead! They DON'T always win! lol

Try to take a couple hundred dollars with me every cruise. I do like the slots and am definitely ahead...have paid off my sign and sail on several cruises with my winnings...the key is to cash out when you are winning and go right to the desk and put it toward your sign and sail. I do this when I am up a couple of hundred. Then I can go back and start again with my original stash.

My DH likes blackjack and sometimes I will sit with him, steal a couple of his chips, and play for a while. When I lose his chips I leave. If I win, then after a while I give him the chips and leave (he likes that).

Our next Pride cruise is an awesome deal thru a VIP casino offer. It definitely puts me "more ahead".

The DW and I brought $25 a piece on our honeymoon cruise on the 1st. She lost all of hers. I doubled my money, spent down to $30, and cashed out. So I guess I came out $5 ahead.

I was tempted to play a hand of blackjack but I was very reluctant. In 3 cruises, I've played a single hand of blackjack. $5 buy in. My $5 was gone in 30 seconds when she turned a 21 to my 19. Fastest $5 bucks I've ever lost.
