We stayed at the Premier Inn Central (Eastern Ferry Terminal) http://www.premierinn.com in 2010. There is a restaurant & pub in the hotel. They have a meal deal that you can book. There was not another restaurant nearby without walking into the town. The room did not have A/C but they did have a table fan in the room. If you exit the hotel and go through the car parking lot, you are at the waterfront. We were able to walk into the town from the hotel. Ask for a room in the front as the back rooms have a road that passes by the hotel (we had a back room and did not hear the cars with the window closed).

If you have a chance while you are there, see the Dover castle with the war tunnels. I would suggest a taxi or bus to the castle. We walked down a MANY stairs to get back to the hotel so you might want to take a taxi.

At the hotel, I asked them to prebook a taxi for the next morning to take us to the ship (under 10 GBP). The dock terminal used to be the train station.

I would book this hotel again. It was nice to see our ship in the morning and walk along the waterfront before taking the taxi.

I would hardly call a Premier Inn upscale....

Try here: http://www.themarquisatalkham.co.uk/ Not actually in Dover but not far away and certainly upscale.

Thanks Bob ++. I agree with you about the Premier Inn not being upscale. I have looked at the Marquis and it looks great! Have you been there?

Thanks so much,

Nancy
