Transatlantic weather

Hi,

We're on the Grand Princess repositioning cruise in November from UK to FL. Anyone have a handle on the weather?

That's a crap shoot. I have done 4 transatlantics. 2 were very rough. High seas. 2 very smooth. It is very hard to predict the weather. Good luck.

On our Emrald crossing (2008) we only had one sort of rough day when the Captain announced he had to alter course to skirt a hurricane. The weather was great. On our Ruby crossing (2009) we had smooth seas and great weather the entire crossings. Both our crossings were mid to late October.

Just back from a TA on the Crown - UK - NY. We went the northern route...so gloomy, rainy weather most days....2 days very high surf, many sea sick, choppy, etc. We only missed one Greenland port and were late to Bergen due to a medical emergency where the ship turned back to Southampton to drop off a patient and we could make up the time. But I hear missed ports are pretty common. Other days were smooth and sun was out....like someone said, it is a crap shoot....but totally worth the trip...just dress accordingly.

Only when we got close to NY did it get warmer - the pool chairs were packed - before that, they were all open every day...

Different direction (west to east), but on a TA this year we had great weather and smooth seas.

However, the Captain announced that another Princess ship which was two days ahead of us was having bad weather and rough seas much of the time.

In other words, it can be either good or bad as far as the weather is concerned.
