Shelli Posted October 14, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2011 I just read a post that recommended printing out and bringing along proof of something or other, and that jogged my memory. We sailed last month on Pride and had a $100 OBC (Carnival had canceled our cruise in 2010, so this was a re-booking incentive). Fortunately, I had the good sense to print out and bring along our booking information, which had this info on it. Good thing! I went to the information desk to find out if the OBC was on my account... and of course, they had "no record" of it. Because I brought my proof, they managed to get it all straightened out and gave me my credit. So remember: any promise is just worth the paper it's printed on! You need proof of ANY prior purchases or promises, just in case. Be prepared!
5waldos Posted October 14, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2011 Good thought since things like OBC do seem to come and go.

Luckily, so far, we've never had a problem, of course, I've only been on 2 cruises. But I still take a folder with everything, just in case. firefly333 Posted October 14, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 14, 2011 I always say the same thing .. bring proof of your OBC, print it out and bring it. Iv had issues with this as well. In fact when I put in for a price drop, it knocks off my stock OBC etc... so keep proof along the way. I lost some OBC in January when my PVP had not documented some I got thru someone else at Carnival when she was on vacation and never got it back. Put in for a price drop and wound up with less than I started with. I look at it as free money and shrugged it off, .. but lesson learned. be careful and keep records. NEWORLEANSCRUISER1 Posted October 14, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 14, 2011 I had proof and printed it and took it on a cruise on the triumph last feb. I went to guest svs and still not the full on board credit due. When I returned home I had to file with my credit card co and finally got some but not all of the onboard credit. I also look at it as free money and took what I could get, not worth the fight!!
Red-Headed Grandma Posted October 14, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 14, 2011 Also take something showing prepaid gratuities. I had to prove this on one of our cruises.
NCTribeFan Posted October 14, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 14, 2011 I can't imagine boarding and NOT having a bunch of paperwork with me! I have my folder ready to go... Directions to hotel Hotel reservation confirmation email Funpass Extra luggage tags Cruise documents (which show both my OBCs) Casino cash voucher Email from Players Club stating I should have a Premium BV package Trip insurance contact info Two leftover coupons from wine package that I hope are still valid Maps of Bermuda Printed bus and ferry schedules Printed walking tours of Hamilton and St George If I had excursions planned, I'd have print out confirmations of those with meeting instructions and contact phone #s Sticky note on inside of front door that says: TICKETS MONEY PASSPORT!!!! Yes, I like to be prepared! Only then can I relax and enjoy my cruise. :D
nanuak Posted October 14, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 14, 2011 I take copies of everything. I have never needed any of this documentation (yet ), but I believe in CYA :D
FloridaLaura Posted October 14, 2011 #9 Share Posted October 14, 2011 I buy $25.00 to $50.00 every week or so in Funships Dollars I purchase them online and ask that they apply them to my onboard acct rather then mail me my certificates. I ck to make sure they were applied (thru my manage cruise on carnivals website) but I also print out the receipt and have them in my cruise folder. I don't want to take a chance my 600.00 wont be there. I also purchased beer and t-shirts from bon voyage for hubby...printed those receipts as well. The players club said they will be delivering a deluxe gift basket to our cabin embarkment day I printed the email from them. My prepaid tips and my prepaid excursion receipt is also in the folder! My future cruise OBC paper as well is in my folder!! Better safe then sorry

popsec Posted October 14, 2011 #14 Share Posted October 14, 2011 Several times the casino player's club has promised casino cash, which the ship casino knew nothing about. Since I always bring emails confirming casino cash it usually gets straightened out onboard within a day or 2.
martinchem Posted October 14, 2011 #15 Share Posted October 14, 2011 But don't bother bringing printouts from 3d parties like TA or Chargecard perks cause Carnival will tell you it's between you and them.
vacruizer Posted October 14, 2011 #16 Share Posted October 14, 2011 Do you automatically get the emails from the players club? Or am I just not enough of a spender?:p
Pookeybear1966 Posted October 15, 2011 #17 Share Posted October 15, 2011 Yes this happened to us also...had to go to the information desk to get it corrected. They missed on of our OBC's :(

I keep a nice black notebook with all vacation printouts, documents and receipts, nicely placed in order. Showing up with it at hotels, auto rental and other service counters, it helps communicate that I know the promised service and rate, and that I'm keeping thorough records and receipts. Interestingly, I have never gotten a "mistaken" overcharge when I've had the book with me.
beachpeach1 Posted October 15, 2011 #19 Share Posted October 15, 2011 Our TA has filed for our OBC due to price decreases, up to $110 so far. Should I ask her for a copy of the paperwork?
popsec Posted October 15, 2011 #20 Share Posted October 15, 2011 Do you automatically get the emails from the players club? Or am I just not enough of a spender?:p I always contact them before a cruise to see what goodies and cash they feel like sending my way. Since we spend every night in the casino they like to see me coming ;)
