Fridge in the Cabin

Be careful if you have your cabin steward remove them. On my last cruise I had him remove them on the first day and I unfortunately didn't review my bill before leaving the ship and they charged me for them. It was only around $10 but it's the principal.

Advice:

Your fridge will be much colder if you don't close the door on the cabinet it is sitting in. A fridge takes the heat from inside it and moves it outside. When the cabinet is closed this heat has nowhere to go and ends up going back inside the fridge.

Leave the cabinet door open and you will have much colder beverages.

I would suggest having your cabin steward remove the drinks. Other option is to take them out and leave them on the counter above the fridge AND let your cabin steward know. Sometimes the cabin steward will check the fridge contents each day, replace anything that is missing from the standard stock and charge it to your cabin.

Wow! Thanks for the advice! I always wished the fridge kept things a little cooler!

If the cans are in our fridge, we just remove them and put in a corner somewhere (where the steward can see them). That way if we see it on our bill, we can prove that they were never opened and consumed.

I work at a very large casino in las vegas....

I always tell my friends dont use minibars and or roomservice.

with the minibars....you really have no recourse when you state to the front desk...I never used, touched, drank the items in the fridge. yeah right....and you never know if housekeeping and/or security is sneaking stuff outta your minibar, sadly it does happen.

I tell my friends to let the front desk know when you check in...to physically remove, lock or securely tape shut the minibar...and you can also request that your "room deposit" be flagged as no room service option.

too many times people in the room have charged items to the guests account and they are "on the hook" for the items. CYA.
