This was our 16th cruise with carnival and never had a complait, but who changed the menu. I want my shrimp cocktail back!!! Food was just ok I think they really want you to go to the steakhouse. The entertainment was the worst we have ever seen. The comedians were just not funny. One even had to pull out his notes to try and find something funny. The ship is very decorated but not the worst.(Destiny) The 8 days was very relaxing and beautiful weather. Not giving up on carnival booked two more for next year The casino staff was great very friendly and keep us coming back (win or lose) When did love and marriage show become the main show at night!! Come on carnival wake up before its too late

Did they have the Juggler? Saw that on the Miracle this past April...funniest show I ever saw. He was a great Comedian!

There has been a deterioration of quality since they rolled out the new menu. Hope you will let them how you feel on your e-comment card about the food!!!

You have 16 Carnival cruises and 2 more booked. Since you are starting to see some negative changes, have you considered trying other lines? Without any kind of signature, I can only assume that Carnival is your "one" line based on your post.

We were Milestone before we realized that there were other options out there besides Carnival. Well, yes, we knew there were other options prior to that, but never gave it a second thought. All that I can say is I am very pleased that we have sipped from a few different cups now! *Hiccup* :D

BTW - if you enjoy your casino time, you'll find that both Celebrity and NCL treat their players MUCH better than Carnival does... just sayin' !

I too think the comedians are not as good as having a real show in the main theater. I really miss the shows, but most seem to not care. In fact a lot of people were happy when they found out the comedians would be replacing shows in the theater.

The Love and Marriage show has been the main thing one night for a while (sighs).

Im going to miss the shrimp cocktail every night too.

We were on the Miracle last month and thought comedians were very good.

Having the love and marriage game as entertainment one night is rather cheap.

Thought the new menu was ok. Do miss Veal Parmigain (sp) but never went hungry.

We have been wanting to try other lines for awhile now but strangely something keeps happening to draw us back. Have a Valor cruise coming up in Jan and than will see what happens.

Still having outstanding cruises in any case.

Me... If I want a Broadway style show, I'll go to Broadway. Then again, I'll be in NYC for Thanksgiving & there are no shows on the agenda... (Beyond the regular family hijinx)

Yea, Carnival stopped the cards on the ship where everyone could give feedback, and only a few get the email comment cards. I have yet to see one and Iv taken a lot of cruises since they quit caring what I though. No ecomments for me.

My experience is completely different from what you've said. I spend ALOT of time in the casino, & I find the Carnival casino hosts to be extraordinary. Always sending over free drinks, sending bottles of wine to the dining room, "babysitting" my machine while I run to the powder room, ;). The rewards program on Carnival paid me back more quickly than accruing the 1500 points took on NCL. Not that the NCL, Celebrity or HAL casino personnel were bad...they weren't...but they certainly didn't treat me any better than their Carnival counterparts.

I guess we were lucky - we had some great comedians in Punchliner when we sailed on Miracle. And I agree - I hate that they put the Love and Marriage show as a "main" show. I guess they have to fill a nite, as it is an 8 niter, so they are doing it the cheap way, instead of paying someone to entertain for that evening. Was the juggler the "finger hug" guy? If so, he was really good! I enjoyed the new menu - mostly stuck with my "old" favorites, but tried the "didja's" and some of the new stuff. No complaints, as I am very easy to please on the food front. BTW - you can order the shrimp cocktail every evening even if it isn't on the menu. They will bring it to you. (dd did that!) No problem!

Carnival has taken the "Don't ask" (hoping that the guests "Don't tell") approach.

At least that is my take.

I am more referring to the 2-3 FREE cruises I have taken on Celebrity thanks to their "Blue Chip Club", and the $1,200.. $2,000... and $3,000 OFF my cruise fare on our last 3 booked NCL cruises thanks to booking through NCL's "Casinos at Sea" department. Additionally, on the last night of our FIRST, and most recent, NCL cruise they have taken $1,000 and $800 (respectively) off of our onboard charge account.

On all 3 lines, free drinks are a given. No drinks, no play -- real simple! Though I only drink in the evening, and then it's not like I drink "a lot".

On all 3 lines they have offered to cover trips to the spa, specialty dinners, sent wine to our cabin, etc...

But it's the free cruises and thousands off upon re-booking that really get my attention.

Carnival plays the game, just at a lower level.

Hi Tom,

We just got back from an 8 night cruise on the Freedom, this was our 12 Carnival cruise and I was telling our dinner table it might be our last. Was thinking about Celebrity or Princess any thoughts. Just a note we always book a suite are the suites on these lines as big as Carnival. Thanks for any help.

In my opinion, you can charge the poor entertainment choices, and venues directly to the worst C.D. in the entire Carnival fleet, who happens to be aboard "Miracle". Malcolm makes terrible choices, and does whatever is the easiest for him when it comes to entertainment aboard that ship. (Damn the passengers,,,if it involves time, and work for him you won't see it aboard that ship.) When I asked Malcolm about a couple of activities that I noticed were missing, he told me that they were "just too much work for him", and I wouldn't be seeing those shows aboard the "Miracle". What a shame,,,,"Miracle" used to be my favorite ship in the entire Carnival fleet!

On our Sept cruise the juggler was the finger hug guy. Very funny the first time we saw it in Jan, not so funny the same exact act in Sept so we walked out.

The ventriliquist was ok in Jan and doing the same act in Sept bored stiff so we walked.

One would think the flyons would be bored stiff doing the same exact act over and over and over.

Comedians were very funny and highlight of entertainment. When we did sailaway saw Malcolm on upper deck and asked if he ever does his silent skit. He looked at me and said why not and he did do it one night and it was very good.

People complained about "the same old food" and "the same old shows" for years.

Carnival changed it.

People complained about the changes.

Carnival revealed the 2.0 changes.

People are complaining about that without ever having experienced it.

Like a dog chasing its tail... :D

I'm not a Carnival cheerleader. I'm just summarizing what I've seen posted here on Cruise Critic during the last few years.

Basically other lines suites (and perks) puts Carnival to shame. Check out the link in my signature where I compared suite perks across a few lines. That will get your attention. Both NCL and Celebrity have a butler assigned to suites in addition to the cabin steward. They will bring you treats in the afternoon, set up full meals on your balcony (full breakfast overlooking the sea is wonderful), and take care of other things for you. Once you have sailed in suites on those lines, what Carnival considers a suite quickly becomes apparent to you that it is not!

I loved the shows and thats a big part of why I started cruising again. Love having a nice dinner and going to the theater which Carnival has changed.

It was a huge hit in my book. I was a music major, so having a stand up comedian doesnt come close to being a even trade for a big theater show.

PS I also was not one who complained about the food.

Yes - there is no way they can please everyone, so they take a dead center aim and omit the rest. It works for them, they are a very profitable company - so they must be doing something right.

It just does not quite fit us the way it used to, though we have had plenty of great Carnival cruises in the past - with no regrets.

I was on Legend in Sept. and one comedian was very funny. Another wasn't, I didn't laugh once.

Left the Legends show during 2nd performer who was idiotic. Sometimes there are very talented passengers, others no so.

They talk a lot about all the training done. Must be in a language unfamilar to the audience since if you ask 5 crew a question, on the ship or on the phone, you're likely to get 5 different answers.

I was on this cruise and I'm not a big show person. But I have to admit the juggler, ticket to ride and the guy singing rat pack and swing songs was very good. The one show we walked out on after about 5 minutes was the ventriloquist. He suuuuuucked!!!!!!!

Food-wise, the brisket comfort food was wonderful! The meatloaf, not so much. Typical institution bland meat with lots of filler.
