bali visas

Recommended Posts

for those of you who have been on a cruise that stops in Benoa in Bali can you get your visa there or on the ship or do you have to arrange it before the cruise.

also suggestions on what there is to do there would be great.

We are going to Bali in Feb on Radiance and I believe the ship organizes the visa's for you for about $25 p/p. We are hiring a Driver and car for the day, very cheap 400,000 IDR about $45AUD for the 6 of us plus any entry fees, again very minimal charges. We have booked through a company called The Bali Driver which was reccommended from members of cruise critic. www.thebalidriver.com if you want to check it out. Robin:)

The Indonesian imigration officials board the ship in the port before Bali

all passengers are asked to hand in there passports.

the passports will then be returned with the visa stamp the $25 usd will be debited against your sea pass.

every passenger has to do this regardless of wether they decide to stay onboard. if one passenger does not hand in there passport then nobody goes ashore. i was on Radiance October.when this was done.

You mean one pax did not hand their passport in so NO BODY was allowed ashore?

OR the visa charge procedure?

Sounds like poor admin to me...what usually happens on international cruises is that the cruise line takes your passport on checkin and arranges visas...if you need to go through immigration procedures you collect the passport and immigration is held on board in a organised way they then recollect your passport which is returned to you at the end of the cruise.

When disembarking in any foreign port it is a good idea to take a photocopy of the details page of your passport with you...just in case.

For persons visiting Indonesia for Tourist Purposes Visas are issued on arrival at major Airports and Ports .

It doesn't work this way for people arriving by cruiseship. Passengers go ashore by tender to a small local facility. If everyone had to queue there for a visa it would be chaos. To save time, the visas are arranged and issued on the ship prior to arrival.

Can you imagine the stampede to be first off the ship to be first to get the visa. Yikes.

When cruising Radiance Hawaii to Sydney the Passports where handed in prior to the pacific islands and returned after leaving the islands with stamps a couple i met could not accesse moneys from a Tahitain bank becuese of no passport. when leaving Auckland for Sydney Australian imigration where onboard about six of them and they processed your passport in the MDR they called you by decks it took about ten minutes.

better than 2500 passengers in a port queue.
