Hotels near Miami port full - need options

Recommended Posts

Trying to help my mom book a hotel for one night pre-cruise March 23rd and it looks like all the hotels that are suggested here are booked. I thought that with Easter being in April that things wouldn't be so crazy. Any suggestions for a safe location with restaurants nearby? What about hotels near the airport?

Thank you.

Check out hotels in the Blue Lagoon area near the MIA airport (Hampton Inn, Sofitel, Homewood Suites and others) - free airport shuttles and shopping and dining options within walking distance. Most can arrange for shuttle service to POM for $10 per person, or you can cab it for under $30 per cab. The ride to POM will take about 15 or so minutes. Have a good cruise! :)

The Ultra Music Festival (Downtown Miami) and the Sony Ericsson Open tennis tournament (Key Biscayne) will just be getting underway on those dates. Both of these events draw thousands of visitors to the Miami area, resulting in either no hotel rooms available, and if there are vacancies, hotel rooms are very expensive. Also, if the NBA lockout is lifted, there will most likely be a Miami Heat game.

You may wish to try hotels in Coconut Grove or Coral Gables, or near the airport, as suggested above.

Just a suggestion, but your Mom could try the Sleep Inn & Suites in Ft.L.

If she is flying in to FLL the hotel has a free shuttle. The next morning she could use a shuttle service to take her to the port of Miami. I have heard SAS shuttle mentioned on this board several times.

Here is the hotel link if you want to check it out. http://www.choicehotels.com/ires/en-US/html/Availability?sid=xi_FPM.0OEfOgQHe.6#rsm-rate-RACK

If she is flying into Miami, try the LaQuinta airport East

They have an airport shuttle, free breakfast and a shuttle to the port. The return shuttle after the cruise is a few $.

Good luck to your Mom
