Thanks for that interesting photo. Is that just a Spit of land between the ocean and stillwater?
yes with hotels, shops and houses and it a nice easy walk as well.

Thanks. Looks like a nice beach place to walk around.

If you are just spending the day there , and not heading over to Rotorua, Mount Maunganui has all you want. No need to cross the bridge to Tauranga as all the shops are there and presented in a holiday mode. You can wander up to the beach, you have a choice of Harbourside, (Pilot Bay) or the Ocean beach. You can also stroll around the base of the Mount. It is a fairly level walk beside the sea, with steep climbs to the top for the very active.

Yes, we just plan to spend the day there, so a fairly level walk beside the sea at Mount Maunganui will suit us just fine thanks David.

Assuming the weather will be fine, do you know a good fish and chips shop for fish and chips on the beach?

No, but there is bound to be one. There are also "Hot Pools" there, so take your togs is you fancy a soak. I have never been to them as whenever I have been there it's peak holiday time and the pools have been teeming with kids screaming all around the place.

Is it like Hot Water Beach, where you dig your own pool, or larger permanent pools?
