$239 for Conquest 12/4

The lowest I remember seeing Conquest was $289 during the swine flu. To me more evidence that Carnival is having trouble filling it's ships.

 

Nothing that would stop me from cruising with them, but the decline in service and food and an outflow of cruisers to brands that have better service is noticeable to me.

 

$269 for Eastern leaving next sunday, for anyone, no special resident rate required.

 

Someone else said they saw rates even cheaper, but Im on oasis or Id sign up to go myself, since I dont care that much about the decline in service.

 

People who say, raise salaries to cover raises of employees .. there is no profit left to give as raised salaries.

 

So, is Carnival going to attract a lower and lower class of people or where is it going from here?

Maybe NOLA is still a problem as a departure port.

Amazingly low price though. Triumph used to go out of NOLA and do 4/5/5/7/7 each month and I never saw it that low and Triumph is older, but not much smaller.

 

I would sure go myself if I was not leaving the house about 8:30 in the morning to go do Oasis.

 

Im ready for something different though. I got Conquest booked twice, Nov 2012 and Feb 2013 anyway. I asked a friend about going on one and her answer is telling too .. "not Conquest again, I've already done Conquest 8 times". Those who cruise a lot, are tired of Conquest. Iv done her 5 times in the last couple of years myself. And I try and spread it around as much as I can, but anything out of Florida I have to add extra for flying.

 

It could be Conquest too .. but still, I have never seen Triumph that low when she was doing 7 days out of NOLA. As a stockholder, its a bit concerning as to what kind of business Carnival has right now. I think its on a slippery slope. I happen to like fried chicken, but having it nightly in the mdr, is part of that slope. Wouldnt keep me from cruising with them though .. just saying to me Carnival has changed a bit lately.

 

Well, Im supposed to be packing my suitcase, barely started. I will probably try and check in from Cozumel next week .. see ya when I get back. Everyone have a great week.

I guess that would be a yes if you consider them folks from Texas to be a lower class of people. Oh wait, you're from Texas, too. The cruise is only 10 days away. All of us that would need to fly down can not make 14 advance purchases on airfare at this late date. Thus, the cut-rate offer to Texas residents to fill the ship. CCL's business model is to fill dem ships and make the profit margin on alchohol, photos, casino, etc. This ain't their first rodeo. Its just supply and demand at work.

I think you are making too much of a few low rates.

I see the Conquest at $589 for OV and 900 for balcony for that date. Cheap but not ridiculous.

Not that cheap. I've paid less in the past for 7 day balcony during March break when the prices spike.

That was my point. Sometimes real deals come up for a particular cabin class. In this case the "deal" is for Inside cabins.

We got a great deal for a Pride balcony last January.Prices for balcony's were very little over lower cabin classes.

Made sense as our usage was limited due to weather.

NOLA sailings are running less than Galveston but I did see a Pack and Go rate for a 5 day in Jan 2012 on the Triumph for $199 plus tax. It did not last long, by the time I thought about it, it was gone.

 

There are bargins out there if you are flexable

I am not a big Carnival defender here, but it is the time of year for rock bottom cruises. RCCL had some ridiculous prices last week for this coming week. Sure, the best deals were on the smaller and older ships, but they were there (as they were for the past few years at this time). Even Celebrity was doing a fire sale on their 5 day Millenium cruise. I will say that the Carnival ships running short cruises in FL (Imagination, Destiny, Sensation) were not near as low as those. My best deals have been the past couple late November/early December. If it continues then there might be something behind it. As of now, I see it as business as usual.

 

For the record, I am on the Conquest Dec 18th and the prices have gone up and up since we booked. On another note, my last cruise was Allure in October (usually a slow time) and that cruise went up and sold out weeks ahead of time. The two big RCCL ships are doing fine.

All prices posted are X's 2 for solo passangers. I booked the Elation 5 day out of New Orleans yesterday for the January 28th cruise at the Pack & Go rate for $199 X 2 = $398 (interior GTY). That is a very good rate even at 200% single supplement for solo passangers.

Its $219 for Ohio residents. The lowest rates of the season are always the 2 weeks right after Thanksgiving. People just dont travel much in the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas. There are some great deals out there right now.

Little more complicated than that since it's publicly held most of that goes back to the shareholders. P/E around 12ish, earning still strong but declining a bit over the last couple q's.

Still playing at being deliberately obtuse? Of course I meant on the cruise for $239 pp, not very profitable. I was not talking about the umbrella company for all 10 cruiselines.

I meant the folks who all the sudden are protesting the automatic tipping and then complain .. .why oh why can service be down on Carnival. Its all Carnival's fault for not paying them more, aint my fault.

I don't see how extending tips to the ships accountant would make my Dining room or Steward service any better ... in fact I would expect the opposite.

 

Besides with your single out of context rate example could be caused by people not booking because of the new smoking policy.
