Transportation Suggestion-Orlando

My wife and I will be cruising with our 2 DD's 2years/4years old. We are planning on flying down 2 days before the ship leaves, and get some disney time in. We were hoping to rent a car, with some car seats, however Alamo does not have a location at Port Canaveral where I can drop it off.

 

I am hoping some may have experienced this before and have some suggestions, on how to get from Orlando to the Port on the day the ship leaves. This is a Carnival cruise, and we are trying to leave our car setas at home as all of the ports have activities within walking distance from the ship.

 

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I would reccommend dropping your rental car off at the Orlando Airport and take a shuttle from MCO to Port Canavaral. I'm sure there are shuttles running between the two.

Have you visited the Florida Departures board here at CC? Lots of advice about Port Canaveral there, under North American Homeports. EM

I would try to find another rental car company where you can drop the car off closer to Port Canaveral. Check out Cocoa Beach locations for others including Alamo.

We have done this many of times.

 

We have used, Budget, Avis, Enterprise and Thrifty.

 

We have flown into Orlando International and taken Disney's Magical express to a Disney hotel. The day before we took the cruise we picked up a rental car in the downtown Disney area (enterprise will pick you up at your hotel). The nest morning got up and drove to the port - ~1 hour. Dropped off the rental car and took the rental car shuttle to the port. Its easy and is a money saver compared to the cost of he cruise line transfers

The best and cheapest is car rental, pick up at MCO and drop off at CAPE CANAVERAL.

faster, more freedom and cheap. Although i would not recommend renting a car seats, for safety issue, always bring your own. You need at least one stroller anyways.

Not sure when u r cruising, but we are cruising from port canaveral, flying into mco on Xmas day and car rental on that day is not as cheap as shuttle transport.
