bluesea4me Posted December 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 10, 2011 I am a little worried that 7 ships are in port. Around 24K people.....how crowded will it be? Have you ever experienced this many ships at this port?

Ggdean Posted December 10, 2011 #3 Share Posted December 10, 2011 We were just down there in October and there were 5. Once being the RCCL Oasis which is really like 2 ships (lol). We go across the island to a place called Chen Rio and swim and it never gets crowded there but at the bars and restaurants along the main shopping area were crowded. chill6x6 Posted December 10, 2011 #4 Share Posted December 10, 2011 Honestly...the last time I was in Cozumel(Oct 11), there were seven ships in port... For the most part, I never even knew it. Playa Mia was covered up but there was plenty of fun to be had. Cozumel can handle it for sure.
forwardcabin Posted December 10, 2011 #5 Share Posted December 10, 2011 .....how crowded will it be? Have you ever experienced this many ships at this port?...it's that way nearly every Saturday in Coz.
bassmaster150 Posted December 10, 2011 #6 Share Posted December 10, 2011 We were there this past Saturday and there were only two ships in port...ours (Carnival Triumph), and Jewel of the Seas (RCCL)
S.S.Oceanlover Posted December 10, 2011 #7 Share Posted December 10, 2011 We were there this past Saturday and there were only two ships in port...ours (Carnival Triumph), and Jewel of the Seas (RCCL) I was thinking there wouldnt be many there on Saturday either since most ships doing the Caribbean leave on Saturday or Sunday from Florida. Gingee Posted December 10, 2011 #8 Share Posted December 10, 2011 Sounds crazy. Seems like most ships hit Cozmuel. I think they need a new stop. I am tired of it.

We love Coz and would rather book a Western Caribbean cruise over an Eastern Caribbean cruise any day:) Bill Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
Robwerks Posted December 10, 2011 #10 Share Posted December 10, 2011 We were in Coz last with six ships in port. We booked Nachi Cocum. Nachi limits guests to 100 (or 110). No crowds there!! Enjoy your day no matter what you end up choosing to do!!

Me too....but only if they move Nachi Cocom in it's entirety to another equally beautiful location!
golfadj Posted December 10, 2011 #12 Share Posted December 10, 2011 If it was me would make reservations at Nachi immediately if not sooner.
Sargent_Schultz Posted December 10, 2011 #13 Share Posted December 10, 2011 We were there on a Friday last month and there were 7 ships. 6 docked and one of the NCL ships tendered. There were still lots of taxis and no lack of tequila. Cozumel could have (and sometimes does) handle more. It's hard to find a Western Caribbean cruise that doesn't stop there. Personally I could take or leave Cozumel - been there a zillion times.

nessz79 Posted December 10, 2011 #15 Share Posted December 10, 2011 We have 5 in port in April and I was worried about that! Wow- 7 does seem crowded, but I'm sure you can take some of the advice offered such as Nachi Cocum to avoid the crowds.

Have you ever experienced this many ships at this port? Is that all? Wait until you are there with 12. Cozumel is too big to feel much of an impact, especially since you are on CCL and they dock away from town at their own little carnival village. Snoozeman Posted December 10, 2011 #17 Share Posted December 10, 2011 I think there are seven ships most every Friday now. They can handle it. I noticed that the Magic did it's ports in reverse order this week so that may have been one less for yesterday.
iheartpoco Posted December 10, 2011 #18 Share Posted December 10, 2011 The one time I went to Nachi there were only about 20 people there...is it still okay with 110? Or is it crowded? Were those who went on busier days able to get umbrellas still? When I was there the service was SPECTACULAR!
rhcpchika1 Posted December 10, 2011 #19 Share Posted December 10, 2011 NACHI wasn't full when we were there in Dec 2008, but I don't think 100 people would make it feel crowded at all IMO.

Beautiful beach, awesome service, relaxing, killer food and plentiful beverages. We've been to NC five times and honestly I don't think there has ever been more than 40-50 people max. I would guess that it would feel much the same with 100.
sjn911 Posted December 11, 2011 #21 Share Posted December 11, 2011 Sounds like a lot of ships and people, but folks seem to know infrastructure...Nachi sounds wonderful..Sarah
NeuroQueen Posted December 11, 2011 #22 Share Posted December 11, 2011 We were in St. Maarten with seven ships and it wasn't too bad at all. I've been in Cozumel with eight ships and if any port can handle it, they can. Nachi Cocum had about sixty people but we forgot about the one hour difference and got there before it was open. They welcomed us with open arms and we had a truly great day. I can't recommend them highly enough. They have the best guacamole I've ever tasted. CruiseHealing Posted December 11, 2011 #24 Share Posted December 11, 2011 A few cruises back when we visited Cozumel there were at least 7 ships in port. It looked like the cruise ship were attacking this small island. The place was crowded, but not over whemling. We went to PI and then to C&C. The latter was insanely busy but we had a few drinks and overall a good time. Don't Worry.
BigDfromTN Posted December 11, 2011 #25 Share Posted December 11, 2011 We will be there in March on a Friday with 7 ships as well. The 8 of us have already booked Nachi.;):D I, like others fully believe if anywhere can handle that many. Its Cozumel.
