Jewelry Found in Conquest Balcony Cabin Safe

I know the chances are slim, but hoping to locate the rightful owner of a jewelry item I found in one of the Conquest balcony cabins (in the safe) on the 10/30/2011 sailing. If someone provides a specific and correct description, I will help to return it to you.

I'll also take this opportunity to wish an exceptionally Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you at CC: Staff, Hosts, Moderators, Members, & Everyone Else!

:)Peace on Earth and Goodwill toward all...:)

Whenever I find something in the safe, including jewelry, I turn it into the Purser's desk (Guest Services). Most cruisers don't look at Cruise Critic but might contact Carnival if they lost something.

Hi TxGrnEyes!!!

I think this was an awesome thing to do, because you could have just kept it without anyone knowing!!

To go to Guest Services on the last day is a futile effort, standing in line for an hour while others are trying to settle their bills and such, I wonder how many of these that are pointing fingers would really do that???

Ignore the meanies and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too!!!

I would take it home....then contact Carnival and let them know that I found "something"...with permission for the prior passenger to contact me.

If the passenger could describe "whatever", they get it.

It's possible that it had been left by someone previous to the prior passenger. It's possible that guest services would not "turn it in". It's possible that the item is valueless. In any event...if the past passenger could not describe it....then the loss wasn't so great.

Well said. Too many snarky people are eager to judge

Have a merry Christmas TxGrnEyes.:)

Wow. Forgot to don my flame retardant suit.

Thank you for your replies?

I found the item as I was doing my last search of the room on day of disembarkation, mistook it as one of mine, and have just now realized it is not.

I have been very ill since returning from the cruise. Finally felt well enough to organize MY jewelery today, and noticed a piece that does not belong to me. Didn't think I would need to post that but ...just so ya know.

Just ignore the peanut gallery comments--as others mentioned, the customer service is probably the most complete shot at finding the rightful owner. Thanks from all of us that appreciate you stepping up to find the owner of the property!

You should have given it to guest serivces and guest services could have passed it along to a land based Carnival Rep who could look up the personal info for the previous occupants of that cabin and return it to them.

Hopefully the owner will get their jewellery back...

I'm not so sure I'd turn every item into guest services. It would depend on the item.

I would let guest services know I found something, and leave contact info, but wouldn't neccesarily give it to them.

Turning things into quest services, lost & found, doesn't mean the item would be returned to the rightful owner. I speak from experience here.

This is exactly what I would do. How many of y'all have gotten anything back that you left in your cabin and inquired at lost and found in Miami for it?

I left a camera in my cabin. I contacted L&F first thing Monday morning. I told them exactly where the camera was left. They didn't find it.

Funny thing is the camera was an el cheapo digital so pawn value was nil. No pictures from that cruise (lol).

My son left a camera in the observation lounge. We closed it down, there were no other passengers in it when we left. Went back within five minutes later and it was gone.

Even if the ship turned the item over to L&F in Miami, it could disappear there easily.

Was it a Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch? On the back, its engraved , "I'll Always Have Time For You"? This is a test to see if I'm psychic.

I for one would NEVER just dump out the safe and depart the ship. I like to make sure that I have everything that I put in there back in my possession, if something is missing I need to let security know BEFORE I return home.

I don't see where this is so bad. I make sure everything i put in the safe several times a day. Never know if the cabin steward, ripped you off as has been mentioned before in other threads.......or even, if you misplace something, it is a lot easier to retrace your steps for a few hours or in a port than at the end of a cruise, just dumping the safe contents at disembarkation because it is so cazy? DIsembarkation is crazy and you are in such a hurry to leave, you just dump everything in the safe not knowing what is here or not?

best wishes on your sickness and hope you are better, but waiting 6 weeks to figure this all out? what if you were missing, cash, credit cards, passport, your own jewelry or whatever.....i find that mind boggling.......i knOw what i come on the ship with and know what i leave with, exactly!

Very good idea, which is why I did so earlier today. Just trying this venue too...sorry, I suppose I did not make myself clear...still a bit fuzzy headed due to lengthy illness.

Fellow CC Members, I AM also trying other means to locate the owner...Including business contacts I have in the travel industry ...just looking to CC for POSSIBLE assistance as well.

Okay, now I cry, "UNCLE". I'm done. Y'all can all think what you want; I know my motives are true. I'll only answer posts that are attempting to describe the item. Once again, Peace and Goodwill to all...

Merry Christmas to you too. Thank you for being an honest person who is willing to go above and beyond to try to find the right owner.

OP here...I know I am doing what I said I would not...commenting again though no one has posted a correct description. :o

But I feel compelled to thank all those of you who have expressed your support, generosity of spirit, and understanding to me. I knew there was a reason I have remained a member of CC for this long. :)

Thank you all for helping me to keep up my faith in humanity. No small favor to be sure, and your kind words are a truly appreciated gift.

And I will say this again, slightly rephrased: Merry Christmas and Goodwill to All!

PS I promise to let you know here on this board if jewelery & owner are reunited. Crossing my fingers it happens...before Christmas would be cool, especially if the item has sentimental value to the owner. :D

And this can't hurt:

"St. Anthony, St. Anthony

Please come down

Something is lost

And can't be found..."

Peace to all!

Shoot Mischelle Beattie Manager - Online Community Carnival Cruise Lines

an e-mail.

I have read where she has helped others the find property owners of found items.

Either herself or someone else will find out if the item is reported lost and forward your contact info to the person .. with your permission of course... then have them contact you.

OP .... Just in case you missed my PP. I know Mischelle can help you get connected with the owner.

A cruiser from my sailing was left .. literally holding the bag for half of a couple they met on the cruise. They were suppose to go to lunch after debarkation and she lost their cell number. She knew the couples first name and approx cabin location { no cabin #} and the state where they were from.

Mischelle was able to forward the contact information to the mystery couple.

Happy Ending .. the mystery couple were reunited with the bag containing expensive jewelry the husband had bought for his wife's anniversary.

PS I know St Anthony will now be involved! 12 years Catholic School here;)

OP ....

PS I know St Anthony will now be involved! 12 years Catholic School here;)

I am not Catholic but I am a believer in St. Anthony that a Catholic friend told me about. He's come through for me numerous times.

Just yesterday I appealed to him to help me locate luggage tags for our upcoming cruise which weren't where I thought I had left them. Even though I can get tags at port, I wanted those tags that said Diamond Plus on them in hopes it may hurry up luggage delivery. I had searched high and low including dumping a bag of recyclables in thoughts they may have been thrown out.

About an hour later, husband came out of his computer room with the tags. He had written a phone number down on the envelope and taken it back to his computer. Then an hour later I looked down at a table I have on the porch and found a coupon clipper I had misplaced two or three weeks ago. I've been at that table daily and looked for it there numerous times.

Guess Tony was giving "twofers" yesterday (lol). I am good about giving a donation to the poor box to my Catholic friend when St. Anthony helps me out. Want to stay on his good side.
