How much more are you willing to pay for ...?

This is my question how much more would you be willing to pay for to make cruise lines a bit more All-Inclisive ?

If so would that cover only the soft drinks,Alcohol or alternative dining ?

Eric

Zero.

My bar tab is rarely more than $20/day. So if they offered AI as an option, I'd decline. If AI was part of the fare, I would expect a much different cruise experience than Carnival.

The AI lines may or may not be overpriced, depending on you point of view. But they are sailing much smaller ships than Carnival and so have to make more profit per passenger to make the business model work - Carnival deals in volume, the low cruise fare tells you that Carnival is happy to make a little proft per passenger (because there are so many) and can make up the difference with those pax that spend a lot onboard.

Lets see most of the posters want to keep Carnival a budget line. But yet you want 5 star dining, no drunks, no smoking and no one wearing anything they want to the dining rooms. Am I missing something? If they upped the price you probably wouldnt get the so called drunks. Because apparently the spring breakers or most people cant afford it. Maybe even better food. People probably would dress better for dinner. Smoking? Well thats an issue all by its self. You only get what you pay for. As long as Carnival stays a budget line what do you expect? Its just sad so many people offend so many others before thinking about what they are posting.

After reading the first page, I would like to reword your question,

Would you be willing to pay a little more, say $20.00 per day, to have a "Better" experiance? Maybe a cruise like they were 15 years ago.

More attention to detail, more pampering, more special treatment?

I would say YES I would pay 100 to 150 more for the cruise, if it was like it was on my first cruise. Man the waiters and staff made you feel very special.

For me, I'd like to see $20-$25 a day added to the cruise fare and then have the fare include the tips, soda, good coffee (coffee bar coffees), and bottled water.

Alcohol, pictures, casino, specialty dining....if I want those, I'd gladly pay extra but I'd like better non alcoholic beverage choices and tips included.

exactly :D

If the lushes and drunks aren't smart enough to buy their booze at their local grocery store and drink it at home around the kitchen table . . . that's fine with me.

Seriously!? This may be the most judgmental and idiotic comment I have seen posted on these boards!

OP: It really would depend on what is included, so I think this question is too open ended to result in a exact dollar amount.

On most cruises we have been on one of the bingo games has a prize of up to $500 of your bar bill. Our bar bill is usually less than $30.

There always have been one or more travelers who have had too much to drink on every cruise we have taken.

We like it as is on Carnival now. No need for a fee for something we won’t use.

I wonder if passengers would be willing to pay for reserved seats at shows or by the pool?

I recently sailed the Celebrity Millenium...

I think Celebrity does it right...lets you purchase the Pkg or not.

I AM ALL FOR IT!!!! ;) All Inclusive Cruising is AWESOME

Celebrity and Carnival target very different types of cruisers.

In GENERAL, Celebrity charges substantially higher fares than what you pay for similar cruises on Carnival. You may be getting a deal on a drink package, but when you add it all up, the total cost of your vacation on Celebrity is not what a Carnival budget minded cruiser is willing to pay.

Look at the way people fill up their trays at the buffet, or look at the loooooong line at the "free" liquor tasting table. These things alone should tell you how unprofitable an unlimited alcohol package would be on Carnival...

I know some people will disagree with this post, and swear that they've NEVER done any of the things mentioned above, but let's be honest and realistic for just a moment. I'll be the first one to admit to wanting to get as much as I possibly can for as little as possible when cruising on a budget.

This simple fact ^ eludes most people. :)

Regent Seven Seas ships offer free ships tours ashore!

They're not free -you prepaid for them, whether you opt for them or not, on the cruise.

Free alcohol too, even free wine with dinner! Way to go. Way to pay!

Only the very best for us Carnival Cruisers! :D -on our shoe-string budget

while we imagine ourselves still cruising at 1960s levels of opulence and low numeric levels of cost to us and the line.

I'm sure Yachts of Seabourn (also a Carnival Corp. product) will cater to your every discerning whim and fancy

but when you pay Carnival Cruises prices, you get reasonable Carnival Cruises value for money.

You didn't want to pay the fuel surcharge when Oil went over $70 a barrel?

-which it has been at now, for how long? ....2 years?

So the operators cut back on little things instead: they're not silly.

We all want Everything for Nothing, don't we?

.

SO TRUE!!!

Agree 100%

Nothing!! The system works well, as it is.

If people want the Soad, Alcohol, or altenative dining venues, then let them pay for it, as they do now. For the those of use who don't use, or use very little of, those services/products it would be a disincentive for us to cruise.

Just my $0.02 worth, on the subject.

$0 I agree with the majority of the above posters. I drink very little, am very happy with the menu in the main dining room, and don't drink many soft drinks either, so why should I pay more for those who do? I am VERY happy with the way things currently are. :p

LOL......I personally don't believe in judging those who choose to drink alcohol either on their cruise or around their kitchen table as drunks, lushes or less intelligent than those who choose not to. Which IS how you chose to refer to both of these activities. Geeezzz :p. But, I do think I've seen a few overly intoxicated people on board! ;). Yep---I made that judgment!

OP: Vote for leaving well enough alone on Carnival. We could piece meal the heck out of it as others have previously stated. It would never end. Ala carte everything=an error filled S & S account at the end. They manage to mess up plenty of them without adding any more options!! Sail the line that most accurately fits your needs, as we all do now!

I didn't make that judgement . . . I said lushes and drunks should drink around the kitchen table (the implication is they'd be buying their booze in the bottle and mixing it themselves saving tons of money), a much more economical way to drown their brain in alcohol than in a bar on a cruise ship.

I don't judge "those who choose to drink alcohol on their cruise or around their kitchen table" as drunks, lushes. I drink alcohol, my friends drink alcohol on cruises.(and around the kitchen table)

My reference was to the humongous bar tabs of OVER DRINKERS (lushes and drunks) providing an inexpensive cabin for me, in the past, and hopefully into the future. I love the cabin subsidy they're providing for me. Booze is probably Carnival's largest revenue stream.

If you're going to be drunk for 7 days, why go to all the expense of a cruise ?Buy a case of Jack, a case of coke and rent TITANIC. :D

I don't drink much (2-3 beers a day) and pretty much NONE when not on a cruise ship, so an all inclusive liquor cruise would not benefit me. I'd only end up paying for the heavy drinkers and drunks.

All inclusive upgraded dining already exists. For those that are not satisfied with the current dining quality or amounts, Carnival has an excellent answer in the way of the specialty restaurant. I've only dined there once and I found the service and food selections to be EXQUISITE and an EXCELLENT value.

Why change anything? These are sources of additional revenue for Carnival and making them part of an all inclusive will just raise the prices on the cabins to cover this revenue loss.:(Let the land destinations continue to do the ALL INCLUSIVES. Leave my inexpensive cruising alone.

wish there were a like button, I so agree with you!!!

Besides they do have a nice wine package that is fairly reasonable if you want to drink wine at all your meals.

I think everyone but the heavy drinkers wouldn't drink near enough to pay for a alcohol option, probably why they don't do it IMO.

I think they should offer a drinks package like X does. $350 per person for a 7 day cruise that includes unlimited drinks of any sort (and gratuities) up to I believe $13.00 a drink? I did it in January and it was fantastic. If you have a specialty coffee, a liter of sparkling water at dinner, a soft drink at lunch, 2 or 3 beers on the lido, and a cocktail after dinner you are way ahead of the game. Plus if you decide to have a real "drinking day", you could spend half of that price in one day. Plus with that being an extra $700 a week for a couple, you probably will not attract the sort of clientele that many complain about on these boards.

I would not pay the same price for the drink package on Carnival as I would pay on X. X has much better selection of alcoholic drinks (wine and cocktails) as well as non-alcoholic (smoothies, sparkling water, fresh squeezed juice) included in premium package.
