Time for a fun thread :D!

Probably been posted before, but I did a quick calculation for another thread over onboard security, I was so amazed by the figures I just had to share it :).

 

I got all the info from the RCI site and some from a wiki

 

At any given time over the entire fleet (max capacity):

• 2 Oasis class ships, crew compliment of 2384 + 6300 passengers
  Total/ship 8684, class total 17368
  
• 3 Freedom class ships, crew compliment of 1360 + 4370 passengers
  Total/ship 5730, class total 17190
  
• 5 Navigator class ships, crew compliment of 1213 + 3114 passengers
  Total/ship 4324, class total 21620
  
• 4 Radiance class ships, crew compliment of 850 + 2502 passengers
  total/ship 3352, class total 13408
  
• 6 Vision class ships, crew compliment of 765 + 2435 passengers
  Total/ship 3200, class total 19200
  
• 2 Sovereign class ships, crew compliment of 833 + 2744 passengers
  Total/ship 3577, class total 7154
  

 

Which brings us to a grand total over the entire Royal Caribbean fleet of 95940....That’s almost 100 000 people on the move at any given time over the 7 seas...Incredible isn’t it?

And that’s just one cruise line...maybe interesting to add up all liners :D

Haven’t thought of that one yet :D. It will be a close one doh, as one of the sovereign ships will leave the fleet.

Really gives another dimension to floating community :D

We think about this when we watch the food get loaded onto a ship. All of the ships with all those people at the same time all over the world. That's a whole lot of food. Sometimes it seems sad - it just does. I guess we should be glad there are that many of of that can afford to do this. And we're sailing one of the cheaper lines.

I understand what you are saying. I do try to cruise responsibly. And I realize that if we all quit cruising today, there would be a whole lot of people without jobs, here and around the world.

True, but the OP was pondering how the brand numbers related to the larger numbers. Extrapolating the RCL brand pax/crew ratio of 2.9 pax/crew, the aggregate total for the corporation would be approximately 123,600 across the entire RCI 40 ship fleet:)

Now you have a good idea for an ad campaign. A great advertising company could pull off something like this and make people want to be one of that "exclusive" group of people.

 

Who needs the sea to call them? All of those people can't be wrong. :)

2634 passengers + 920 crew = 28,432 total passengers

 

 

Destiny Class: 1 ship

2642 passengers + 1040 crew = 3,682 total passengers

 

 

Triumph Class: 2 ships

2758 passengers + 1100 crew = 7,716 total passengers

 

 

Spirit Class: 4 ships

2124 passengers + 930 crew = 12,216 total passengers

 

 

Conquest Class: 5 ships

2974 passengers + 1150 crew = 20,620 total passengers

 

 

Splendor Class: 1 ship

Will, you were correct in your counting. All those other lines are part of Carnival Corp, not Carnival Cruise line. There's a difference. Yes, RCI is the biggest cruise line in terms of passengers.
