Help!!!... With transportation to/from port

We are booked for a cruise in Dec 2012 leaving on a Saturday returning the following Saturday...Just learned DH is unable to have both Saturdays off and will need to be in to work by 12 noon the day we return from cruise.

Here is the dilema: We are 7 hours away from port by car. We were driving initially but since he has to be in to work by 12 noon the day we return from cruise , that will not be possible. Need HELP on mode of transportation to and from port.

Should we rent a car and drive to the port??? And then fly back??? OR fly to and from??? Any suggestions at this point will be much appreciated. To cancel this trip is not an option:)

Experienced cruisers, please offer suggestions. Thanks in advance

If you fly out of miami. Whazt is the options for foights?

If you live 7 hours from port and must be in work by noon. You will need to be getting in your car by5am. Not gonna happen.

If all goes well and you carry off your own stuff you might be off by 8am.

You still gotta get though customs and immigration

I wouldnt think it would be cost effective to rent a car there and to fly back. There is a shuttle within Florida, EZCruiseconnection ... some such name, maybe you can take the florida shuttle to the port and then fly home if you are trying to save money.

Flying home sounds like your only option.

If you do self-assist debarkation, you might make it off by 7:30 or 8:00, depending on customs clearance. You'll have to fly back, certainly, so you may as well fly to and from port. Since you are already in Florida, you should be able to do this fairly cheaply. It will still be "pushing it", because any flight earlier than 10:30 would be tough to make with security checks, etc. Good luck with your dilemma!

have dh offer up a nice cash bonus for someone picking up his shift. instead of spending it on airfare and stressing about it if at all possible.

If not, look at booking a flight as you can tell you math will not add up. you cannot be off the ship and home in time by driving.

your cruise is still a ways off. maybe something will change.

Another suggestion if tight for money & time...dh gets off ship first and catches a flight home A.S.A.P. and you sadly drive home alone. Dec. and flights in FL can be expensive. Keep in mind also, you can fly out of FLL (only about 45 minutes away from MIA) usually cheaper.
