Dining room...mid or aft? who decides and how?

So far we have been very fortunate to be able to eat in the mid-ship dining rooms. I'm sure there are some people who prefer the aft, but everytime we have gone to breakfast or lunch in the aft MDR, it feels like I've rode a funpark ride for an hour. We actually prefer the mid MDR.

Do they choose by how far forward or not your cabin is?

If we did get booked in the aft, could we request to be switched?

As far as I can tell where your cabin is, is not even a small consideration. I doubt they look. The tablemates seem to be similar more often than not, and the maitre d' makes up the table assignments close to sailing.

Dont forget, the anytime dining is always in the middle dining room. I didnt do the math, but thinking that gives those who do traditional about a 75% chance of the aft dining room.
