I am trying to find a San Juan hotel for a precruise stay in July. I was wondering if you were ever able to identify the 4* "Customer Favorite" that shows up on Hotwire. It was listed at $142 today. With our $30 Entertainment Book coupon, this might not be a bad deal. Another site suggested that this hotel might be the Caribe Hilton. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I've been watching Hotwire also for a San Juan hotel. I was told that the 4* could possibly be the Inter Continental but my dates were for 2/3/06-2/4/06 and my price was $186. I'd really like the Sheraton Old San Juan because I'd like to try to go to El Morro before we board the Serenade but I know it's not a 4*. Have you ever used Hotwire? I'm a little nervous about it and I'll be booking a room for another couple also.

I have never used Hotwire before. I used Priceline last year for the first time for our precruise stay in Ft Lauderdale. I am not having much luck with Priceline this year. But of course I am looking for a good deal. My family would like to stay at one of the resort properties with beach access. I have called the hotels direct and checked online and the prices are pretty high.

The 4* "Customer Favorite" on Hotwire is the Caribe Hilton. Listed at $139, with taxes and fees it ends up being 167.

I booked in July at the Sheraton Old San Juan. My rate is $119 for a harbor view room with a king size bed. I booked directly with the hotel.

Used hotwire last week to book Sheraton Old San Juan for a final price of $66! Listed on hotwire for $106 minus the $10 discount for first time hotwire users minus the $30 entertainment coupon book coupon.

 

If you don't have an Entertainment Coupon book I believe they are now being sold online for 1/2 price as the coupons expire Dec 2005.

cpayne- For what date did you book the Hotwire Sheraton Old San Juan? How many stars does the Sheraton have on Hotwire? I'm still not sure how I determine which hotel is the Sheraton Old San Juan. Any advice? We do not need the hotel until Feb. '06 so maybe the prices will be better closer to February.

Just came back from AOS 4/24. We stayed at the Radisson Ambassador 2 nights pre and 1 night post. The rate was 166 with tax included for 2 people in the room. $20 extra for each additional person. I would rate it a 4. Nice size room with balcony. Located in Old San Juan, but took a 3 dollar per person taxi to San Juan to do a little sightseeing. Any questions, just ask.

Sorry for the slow response. Just returned this a.m. from a 7 day aboard CCL Elation. Trying to get caught up on my 250 emails from work let alone personal things like 6 loads of laundry! :)

 

The Sheraton Old SJ was a 3 1/2 star. I believe the amenities listed were casino, restaurant, pool, fitness, tennis nearby, business center, laundry.

Hope you had a great cruise! When things settle down for you, was wondering if you could tell us a little more about Sheraton San Juan? Condition of room and hotel in general, atmosphere etc. Would you stay there again? Could you recommend a place for dinner and breakfast? Many thanks.

We are also looking for a hotel in San Juan for Jan. Is everyone sure that the 4* on Hotwire is the Caribe Hilton? - I kind of thought it sounded like the Wyndham Condado where we stayed last year.

 

I'm almost positive that the 3 1/2 * is Sheraton OSJ. Waiting to see if Hotwire comes down in price a little before we book. 4* is now showing up at $186 and 3 1/2 * is showing up at $182 - not a great deal at this point.

At the Sheraton Old San Juan (Pre-cruise) and the Wyndam Condado post cruise....the Sheraton was great location, clean rooms and great beds!! The Condado is a dirty dump! Yuck..

Do they offer free breakfast? How far away is the Wyndham Condado from this property? We stayed there before, and there is a Chili's close by, I was just trying to get my bearings.

I booked my pre-cruise on Hotwire for next February. As you know, you do not find out what the four star is until after you pay. After giving my credit card, we are booked at the Intercontinental, which is quite gorgeous. I've read some good reviews from Tripadvisor and the many friendly people on this board. We are paying $200.....that is cheap, considering it is the most expensive time of the year for hotels in the Carribbean.

 

I did not realize that they would give us a $10.00 credit for first time users to Hotwire......I'm thinking of requesting the credit, if it is not too late. Where do I sign up for the Entertainment book for the $30 savings?

Hi: The web address is http://www.entertainment.com for purchasing "entertainment 2005". However, I think I saw somewhere that if you have a winning bid through Hotwire, which I assume you do, travel must be completed by December 31, 2005 to qualify for the $30. rebate. I guess the next question might be: wondering if entertainment 2006 might continue with this same $30. rebate? Time will tell. Glad you have accommodations in PR!

Cruz - I was just accepted at the Marriott also for a 1/21 cruise. Could you tell me what you paid My price (for a single) was $100.00.

There is no free breakfast at the Marriott.

The Marriott is a couple of blocks from the Condado Plaza on the same street.

For what date did you book your pre-cruise in February? I've been watching the rates on Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity, Hotwire, etc. for our Feb. 3rd precruise stay and the Sheraton Old San Juan is sold out on all sites. I thought that I might be too early to book, now I'm worried that I waited too long! The 3rd is a Friday in peak season so maybe I'd better find something else quick- what do you think?
