jaddld Posted July 9, 2014 #576 Share Posted July 9, 2014 Electronic Cigarettes The use of electronic cigarettes is allowed within the confines of the passenger's stateroom (balcony not included) and within designated smoking areas only. Earlier I was looking this up and Princess basically stated anywhere except the dinings areas and theater - now it reads this....

Shadow205 Posted July 21, 2014 #578 Share Posted July 21, 2014 Just a thought...It would be nice if designated smoking areas were marked on the deck plans. It would help those adversely affected by smoke to pick their cabins away from the areas. It would also help the smokers find them easier.

Just look for where the casino, cigar bar are on the deck plans. That's why I told hubby we're going to avoid the window suites (not only because of their cost) on the Golden, even thought they were among the few cabins left when we were booking our last two cruises on that ship. It's too near the cigar bar. In fact, when we were exploring the Golden on our first cruise on it, and got to the hallway where the WS cabins were, we knew it from the tobacco smell. Hubby said I made the right decision.

California Paintbrush Posted August 6, 2014 #581 Share Posted August 6, 2014 On the Golden Princess 3 of us shared a window suite. There is a fire door separating the window suites from the casino area. When this door is kept closed there is absolutely no smoke smell, but for some reason the door was kept open most of the time and the smoke would drift down the suite hall. The staff couldn't figure out why we wanted the door closed. We had to find the button on the wall that allowed the door to close.

As CruisingJs posted, on the Golden the offender is the Cigar Bar. Too often they leave the doors open, don't know why, and the odor drifts all the way to the outside of the WS. The door on the forward end of the WS corridor can and should be left closed. The same for the Cigar Bar. CCFC Posted August 6, 2014 #585 Share Posted August 6, 2014 The staff on the Grand propped open the cigar bar doors as the scrubbers and air con made the room like a fridge, they were almost shivering but said there was nothing they could do to heat it up so kept the door ajar. The hallway where the WSs where really reeked of cigar smell (my father smoked cigars so I knew that smell all too well). On our second time on the Golden, we found the elevator area outside the Princess theater to have that smell too.

Can anyone please tell me - Is there a smoking area on deck 15 AFT on the Golden. Or is the only aft smoking area a wall ashtray on the promenade deck? Thank You for the kind replies. Shadow205 Posted November 6, 2014 #600 Share Posted November 6, 2014 I hesitate to stick my foot in the water on this thread but here goes. Would someone who is familiar with the smoking areas on the Royal please comment on what they are like? Is it an ash tray stuck in some obscure corner at the furthest end of a deck? Is there anywhere to sit, relax and socialize with fellow smokers? Is there shelter from the elements? IMO, as long as Princess allows smoking on the ships then I feel that the passengers deserve to have a nice comfortable area. Please, no lectures on the ill effects of smoking just information on the smoking areas. Thank you.
