sprinkles Posted July 24, 2017 #801 Share Posted July 24, 2017 Can anyone please tell me the "current" smoking areas on Ruby please? Other then the speakeasy cigar lounge. Was not happy on recent Grand Princess that they had taken away the smoking area by the Sea Breeze Bar (told the reason was because of proximity to the kids zone). We had booked mid ship and were always making the trek to the aft. Looking at the Ruby, the kids zone is aft, so am I guessing right that there is no COVERED with seating smoking area at the aft (not interested in the promenade stand up smoking area). Thanks, just trying to figure out where to book cabin or if I even want to go.

As of May 2017: Deck 16 - Port side of Tradewinds Bar, Midship (Tables and Chairs) - Covered Deck 17 Starboard aft (One bench outside the doors near the Teen Center) - Not covered Deck 7 Starboard aft (Two chairs outside Club Fusion)
sprinkles Posted July 24, 2017 #803 Share Posted July 24, 2017 Thanks Jamiski. Did they have coffee service in the mornings by the trade winds bar? What kind of tables (round plastic ) and how many? If I go, going with family (other smokers) and we like to play cards and dice games. Just wondering about the conditions up there. The aft area on the Grand was appalling, very few ashtrays (almost always overflowing). Place was so packed there were times that people had to stand. They had also removed some of the tables from my previous cruise. Just really tired of not knowing what to expect anymore. Thanks

Most of them tucked around a dark corner, often not well tended to. I don't recall coffee service, but in the mornings we stayed in the aft. The bar service hours at Tradewinds seemed very limited. It was an Alaska cruise, I would assume a warmer weather cruise might have longer outdoor service hours. Sorry to hear about the Grand, they used to have one of the better aft areas as far as size and service went. I am looking for updated information on the Star. Often the Princess Patters are a good resource (if you can find recent ones) the first page often details the locations. However, the Star only lists the cigar bar and "clearly marked outdoor areas', so not helpful at all.
Liz54 Posted July 24, 2017 #805 Share Posted July 24, 2017 Can anyone tell me specifically where smoking is on the Royal?
sprinkles Posted July 24, 2017 #806 Share Posted July 24, 2017 Thanks again Jamiski, I'd say the Grand probably is still the best aft area. They still have the nice cushioned chairs, but just only willing to put one ashtray out per table if lucky. So no sitting back relaxing with your coffee , unless you brought an extra paper cup to make your own. I'm also interested in the Regal and Royal smoking areas. Thanks all

sprinkles Posted August 2, 2017 #816 Share Posted August 2, 2017 Just ask for one. :o We did, many times. Took it up the chain and spoke to the Staff Captain about the deplorable conditions, who wandered into the area. Which did finally get us service, at least to clean them. But no, we were never given more ashtrays and there were MANY complaints during the cruise about the area.

AF-1 Posted August 11, 2017 #818 Share Posted August 11, 2017 I assume that every ship has different areas for smoking. I guess that is because of they layout of the ship. Is this correct?
vampiress Posted August 17, 2017 #819 Share Posted August 17, 2017 (edited) where are the current smoking places on the star? i have a port aft balcony under the horizon and want to make sure we aren't in a smoke part. we are down the hall from the terrace pool. FLCruise7 Posted August 24, 2017 #820 Share Posted August 24, 2017 I just came off the Star in July (also on the Star in February). Smoking areas were: portion of slots in the casino, Deck 15 (forward - port side) near Tradewinds bar and Shooters Bar (Deck 6 forward between the casino & the theater). There might also have been a small area on the Promenade Deck (aft - starboard) right outside of the Vista Lounge. The last is a standing area only. Shooters is an enclosed room. Your location should be away from all of these areas. As I recall, there weren't any areas near the pools.

Shadow9612 Posted September 8, 2017 #823 Share Posted September 8, 2017 Could someone comment on the current status regarding smoking in the casino on Regal? As a non-smoker, I'm sensitive to smoke but would like to spend a bit of time in the casino. Can any non-smokers tell me - will it be possible for me, or will it definitely be noticeable? Thank you. We sailed on the Regal twice, for a total of over five weeks. Last time was over a year ago. My wife loves to play the slots, I don't gamble but go down with her often and also walk through the casino from time to time. She had remarked that she thought the casino on the ship was smoke free, which was first time she had ever experienced no stench of stale smoke in one. I agreed but it wasn't quite the case, at some slots smoking was allowed but we never saw anybody do that. No smoking at gaming tables anytime and on some days they advertised absolutely no smoking in the casino.

The Regal has the BEST outdoor smoking area, Aft., All their ships have smoking in casinos except on "formal" nights
