sable1 Posted January 31, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2012 Thinking of booking cruise line air for upcoming cruise. Wondering if travel agent receives a comission on the cruise line's air fare. Thanks for your help.
CruiserBruce Posted January 31, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2012 I would think so, if it is part of the total package you bought thru the TA. There are so many reasons NOT to use cruise air. If you haven't done so yet, read the Sticky at the top of the board, and the many threads about cruise air here.
alidor Posted January 31, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 31, 2012 No, they don't - it would be a rare case if they do.
sable1 Posted February 1, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted February 1, 2012 Thank you both, but I'm still wondering. Any other replies? Perhaps from a T.A. in the know. Thanks
Rare Gardyloo Posted February 1, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2012 Some agents receive nominal commissions on "select" air or similar products, typically $5 or $10 per ticket. Others do not. Depends on the agency and the cruise line. In general, travel agents in the US are not paid commissions for air travel, unless it's travel with airlines which pay commissions on full-fare premium bookings (e.g. "J" or "F" fares) - mainly foreign airlines. Agents in other countries have different arrangements.
