Ted W Posted February 28, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2012 Last cruise I was on in Dec 2010 on Spirit, some people hung large flags from their balconies while in port. Is there any issues with doing this? I want to hang my big pirate flag off the side.......sounds stupid,I know
Cupcrazy Posted February 28, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2012 as long as its not offensive or blocking anyone else's balcony or anything important to the ship you should be good to go.
Rusty Aligator Posted February 28, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2012 I was on the Spirit 1/27/11 and i put up a small 1x2 Polish flag on my balcony, just for a laugh, and to see my cabin from shore. When i got back to the ship from PV, the flag was gone,......it was on my bed when I got back onboard. No biggie. Someone DID steal my door plaque. Another no biggie. It goes with CCL, "The Fun Ships" Going again on 3/16, same-o, same-o.

Julz226 Posted February 28, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2012 When we were on the Glory the came in and took everything off our balcony one day in port (books, towels on the chairs, swimming suits that were drying) and put them all inside. They were washing balconies and everything that stayed out got doused....
deeluvs2cruise Posted February 28, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 28, 2012 On my last cruise, our room steward told us that Carnival has begun a new policy...and if he saw anything left on our balcony when he came in to clean the room, he would have to remove the items from the balcony and bring them inside. LUPY48 Posted February 28, 2012 #10 Share Posted February 28, 2012 I hang an American flag and an Irish flag on my balcony, but I always have an aft-wrap, so it's not hanging off the balcony itself. I hang them on the wall.

RuthlessBoss Posted February 28, 2012 #12 Share Posted February 28, 2012 I can't imagine anything more tacky. It looks tacky to me. So what if you are from a certain country? we are all paying cruisers with one goal, to have a good time, not hang out flags.

reginaphalange Posted February 28, 2012 #17 Share Posted February 28, 2012 I can! Say, raining on someone else's parade? +1! What's the harm in proudly flying your colors for the fun of it? I think it'd be neat to be able to spot our room from port. Now, if Carnival says it's a no-no, that's another story.

Can you imagine a ship, pulled into port, with dozens (hundreds?) of different flags flying for all of the countries or states represented on board? Lisah101 Posted February 28, 2012 #24 Share Posted February 28, 2012 I personally wouldn't do it, I think it's tacky, but regardless of my opinion, as long as there is no rule against it, I would never try to interfere with your choice to do as you please, regardless of my opinion. Indianaseadog Posted February 28, 2012 #25 Share Posted February 28, 2012 I can't imagine anything more tacky. As you are coming back after a fantastic day in port would you really pay any attention to someones balcony and if they have a banner or flag hanging off of it and then say to your cruise mate...."oh my, that is so tacky" ? I couldnt care one way or another. But really it doesnt matter as another poster stated, they power wash the sides and balconies in many ports so they would be removed regardless.
