kingoftheicedragons Posted March 6, 2012 #3 Share Posted March 6, 2012 This is the re-named Destiny. I posted a couple of days ago that the Destiny was going to be renamed, asking if it was true.......apparently so. Currently looking at the cruise options for next summer in the Mediterranean--including Greece and Turkey.

Aplmac Posted March 6, 2012 #7 Share Posted March 6, 2012 They really want to get rid of that Destiny stigma name, eh? Pardon me being so very "thick" but...what Destiny stigma do you refer to? Was Carnival Destiny involved in something untoward? Why the need to re-name the cruise industry's first ship over 100,000 tons? I don't understand... . cruisesmadesimple Posted March 6, 2012 Author #8 Share Posted March 6, 2012 I'm still hoping that its a secret ship they have been building  but Destiny rename when it has a refit when it comes over in Feb seems 99% definite bring the sunshine :)

Topo Gigio Posted March 6, 2012 #10 Share Posted March 6, 2012 I wonder if Destiny is going to NOLA where is Conquest going? About the name change. Destiny will arrive in Europe on the 22nd of February. After 7 weeks in dry dock she will come out around the middle of April, so could make sense that it's Destiny that will get a new name. doconner Posted March 6, 2012 #11 Share Posted March 6, 2012 http://www.nola.com/business/index.ssf/2012/03/carnival_conquest_to_be_replac.html The 2,642 passenger Carnival Destiny is now homeported in Miami and travels to the Caribbean and Bahamas. Carnival has not said where the 2,974-passenger Conquest, which sails year round from the Port of New Orleans, will land. The Destiny is currently smaller than the Conquest but it is unclear if that will change after the renovation. The Miami cruise company called the planned redesign and renaming of the Destiny its "most ambitions refit and transformation project ever" in a press release issued this morning. The redesign calls for a reconfigured layout, the expansion of two decks and the addition of 182 cabins, among other things, during a 49-day dry dock to take place from February through April 2013. "This is our most ambitious ship conversion project to date and it will radically transform the Carnival Destiny into essentially an entirely new ship offering a variety of exciting dining and beverage choices, spectacular outdoor spaces and entertainment options and on-board innovations not available anywhere else," Carnival President and CEO Gerry Cahill said in statement. Everyone scooped John. I think John cannot post it until its public perhaps is why he is always late to the party. I knew before I got on CC. Jolimont Posted March 6, 2012 #25 Share Posted March 6, 2012 A smaller Carnival ship in Europe is probably a good bet for them, easier to fill up during the long off-season. I hope I get to sail her some day soon!
