Cruisin' & Breezin' Posted March 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2012 In the Caribbean Princess, in the cabins that "can accommodate a third and fourth person" , the beds fold out from the wall or do they come down from the ceiling? We were assigned one of these rooms in the Riviera deck and we are only 2 people. We are a bit concerned that if the beds fold out from the wall it may make the space around the bed "crowded" near the head and we don't want to go bumping around. Does anyone know how the beds are located? Info from someone with first hand experience will be appreciated. Thanks!

I can not imagine how coming down from the ceiling would work. I had a queen bed and there is very little room at the sides. You can easily bump your head on the folded upper bunks if you try to get out of the bed on the side. I am referring to an inside cabin. Other cabins make have more space. Rare Essiesmom Posted March 9, 2012 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2012 It depends on whether you are in an inside cabin, or a balcony. Inside, the bunks are on the wall. Balcony, they are in the ceiling. EM
stoneharborlady Posted March 9, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2012 We had cabins on Emerald Deck (CB) twice. The mini suite had beds from the ceiling, and the OV had beds on the wall. Neither one was a problem for us. I never understand how people complain about hitting their heads on the wall beds when they are folded back to the wall, we had no trouble. Cruisin' & Breezin' Posted March 9, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted March 9, 2012 Sorry I wasn't more specific. Inside cabin is what I was asking about. So, specifically in the Caribbean Princess in Inside cabins, they fold down from the wall? I have stayed in inside cabins in other Princess ships and the space around the bed is not that much. If a person is tall, I can easily see how they could hit their head with the edge of the bunk that would be coming out the wall even when closed. Particularly when you wake up, a little bit disoriented by the unfamiliar surroundings and not thinking that you have to be mindful of the thing sticking out of the wall  I guess that is the risk we accepted when booking GTY. Lets hope the upgrade fairy does a second round and gets as far down the list as possible to catch us again
bogborn Posted March 9, 2012 #6 Share Posted March 9, 2012 My wife and I just got back from a 7 day cruise on the Caribbean Princess in an interior room on the Plaza level (booked it very late and took what we could get). It was a 3/4 room and I did hit my head several times getting out of bed because the foldout bed sticks out about 5 inches into the 12 inch or so space by the side of the bed. I got used to it eventually and my wife had no problems. Perhaps it was just me (she is about 5 inches shorter than me though). It was a Cat K room, so not that large. Crown Princess the insides had the bunks on the wall. Walked into it a couple times. Bill Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
