What is the best or worse thing a cabin neighbor has done?

We've had one set of bad balcony neighbors... on our 9-night Spirit cruise to the Mexican Riviera last year. Hubby reads most of the day and he kept telling me "you've got to hear this girl's terrible voice, it's driving me insane" and so we sat out there and listened to her... and we both quickly realized she was apparently a "paid escort" to this guy for this cruise. Nine nights and all we heard was a few grunts from him and her trying to tell him her entire life story... and constantly asking him what he wanted and telling him what he had or hadn't paid for on this trip. They would leave their portable stereo blaring on the balcony while she was doing her duties in the room. They left their pipes/bongs on the balcony a few late nights, too. I was amused because I don't use the balcony alot but by the end of the cruise my husband said he was glad STDs weren't airborne. LOL :p

We were in an OV cabin on the Fascination (Upper Deck 118). After coming back from port one day, I was taking a nap and someone was banging on my door. I was half asleep so I didn't answer the door. Finally, they stopped knocking and they slipped a note under their door asking me to be a bit more quiet on my balcony at 6-7 am. I don't know what the guy was thinking, I was in an OV room. Weird.

LOL! Made me smile...needed that. :p

Our rude neighbor was on Lido deck, she brought her I pod and docking station and played the music for all to hear. They do make ear buds for those!!

On our last 2 cruises we've booked the very front rooms, with the "private" balcony, don't understand why people must let the door slam, when you go out onto this deck!!! Or let your room door slam, really, just gently pull it shut!!

On our last 2 cruises we had bad parenting - well worse than us

the first cruise our balcony neighbors had 2 little girls about 6 & 10 and one of them found an ipod and they were inspecting it and we could hear them and the girl said it belongs to a Jimmy - must've had his name somewhere and all the dad said was : well sucks for Jimmy his loss!! I just thought wow what a nice thing to teach your children

the 2nd was a family that had 2 boys about 14 & 17 and they were very loud and kept trying to get my daughter 21 and son 17 to hook up with their kids to hang with - except their kids drank all the time!! They even wanted to open the door thru our balcony to make it 1 YIKES!! My daughter said I'm not drinking with kids mom and my son just thought they were loud and weird because they didn't make for very mild drunks. Strange group So when ever we went to our balcony we tried to be very quiet and we read each other lips so not to alert our neighbors we were out there.

On the final night of our cruise we were woke up at 4 am by a set of parents screaming at a young lady in the cabin across from ours. Apparently she was the friend of the girl's parents. They were dropping the F* bomb repeatedly and it wasn't quiet. About an hour later their daughter showed up and we listened to it all over again along with the noise from a ship officer's radio and the young lady cursing back telling her parents that she was 18 and could do what she wanted. The next morning the young lady ducked her head when we exited our room and the parents just looked at us with a defiant look in their eyes. Being the parents of two teenage daughters ourselves we certainly understood the frustration and anger aspect, but the cabin next to us had two very young children in it and I felt rather sorry for that family. As for the young lady in trouble? I don't even want to know what the ride home was like for her.

Yikes:eek::eek: 18 is such a strange age to be on a ship. And yes she is 18, but I bet she is "living" at home... at least WAS!

Our oldest cruised at that age with us... We had a "talk" beforehand, allowed her to set her own hours(knew when she was back), had very little problems... she was in her freshman year of college. Kids, ya gotta luv'em... it says so in the manual!

I've been on 19 cruises and only one time did we have disruptive neighbors. One night I was in bed reading and had the TV on and started to hear yelling and swearing coming from the cabin next door. The mom and dad were yelling at their daughter and swearing at her. I don't know what she did to deserve it but from my point as a mother there is nothing that this child could have done that was so bad for them to treat her like this. The girl kept saying she was sorry and they told her she was going to be sorry. At this point I was afraid what they would do to her and called Security. They were there very quickly and talked to the mom and dad. Also one of the Security talked to the girl by herself. Security then knocked on our door and apologized for the noise and said that there would be no more disturbance. We were embarking the next day and like one poster suggested I only wish I had gotten their name and address from their luggage and called CPS. I can only imagine what goes on at home.

A lot of you just need to relax. Its vacation. Your 'neighbors' paid the same amount of money as you. Yes, they can be courteous by making sure smoke isnt blowing on your balcony or their music isnt too loud...but how so many of you can allow these little details to ruin your vacation just doesnt make sense to me.

"I cant enjoy my balcony because someone is smoking next door"... THEN ASK THEM TO BE COURTEOUS OF THE WAY THE SMOKE IS BLOWING!! Most smokers are aware that people dont like it. They will be kind to you if you are kind to them.

So many posts are bitching about other people when i'm sure you have done things to annoy a fellow cruise passenger too.

Next cruise you are on, have a drink and enjoy yourself....because being on the boat is a hell of a lot better than being at work.

Ive never posted on here before but the amount of bitching about stupid things has brought me out of the woodwork

On a recent cruise, there was an extended family traveling together, and they put four teenagers (16 - 18 range) together in the cabin next to ours. The parents were a few floors up. Those kids were SO LOUD each and every night, blasting music, yelling, inviting other people over, etc. A couple of times Security came down and told them to quiet down -- I'm guessing someone called and reported them -- but they'd start right back up about 20 minutes later. That was one looooonnnnggggg cruise....

If the parents won't even travel on the same floor as their teens then they shouldn't make others have to endure it.

Sitting out late one night on our balcony having a nice sambuca we felt a fine spray - looked over to the balcony next door and he was taking a leak (had to be standing on something to get that high). Needless we yelled at him and I think he put it back in mid stream. Never saw him or it again.

Reading this while drinking my coffee almost made me spew it all over my laptop. Thanks for the morning chuckle :D
