First a little background, we started cruising in 1991 so we a re not new to this, we have cruised out of San Jaun about a dozen times mostly on RCI but we did cruise the old Celebrity ships like Horizon,Zenith and Galaxy. We chose this cruise because we haven't were been to Dominica and only once to Grenada. We stayed in cabin 8161 because it had an angled balcony which was nice because we could look down the whole side of the ship.

We had to fly in the day of the cruise because of work we arrived at 5:45PM just missed one bus to the ship so we had to wait, I had misplaced my transfers so had to wait for them to call Miami to verify that I wasn't trying to cheat them out of $15.00. Arrived at ship about 7:30 check in went real fast ,everyone else was on board, found our cabin it wasn't as I requested so had to find a cabin guy to seperate beds as I aasked for. We had been traveling all day we decided to go up to buffet to get something to eat while waiting for cabin to be set up. Buffet had a pasta station and salads, we had missed our early seat dinner because of late arrival. I thought the buffet choices were very week and I didn't like the set-up. You slide your tray along and to me there are not many choices of food I like. It doubles as you go along and then you turn and there's bread and if you want pizza it's a different area same with breakfast with special egg dishes. I would like to see different stations with food choices easy to find and get too. Went back to cabin still not setup toured the ship alittle watched sail away and finally got back to cabin about 10:00 as thet were finishing the room.

I can feel I'm getting long winded so this review may take a couple of threads.

St. Croix.. We started by going to the dining room the see where we seated ,asked for a table of six so we would have people to talk too and found we had a table for 2 up against a wall, we got it changed but all these little things were addind up. We spent the morning unpacking because of the problems the night before, we've learned that two people trying to unpack doesn't work so one of us has to wait on the balcony while the other unpacks. Got off the ship and did some walking around the port and bought a few things back on the ship tred the buffet again did find some pork loin at the carving station that was good, had filet at dinner very good, Fred at the show was very funny.

St. Kitts. Learned our lesson and had breakfast in the MDR, got off the ship luckily knew to avoid the "monkey guys" some didn't know.We bought a few things and returned. We had a chance to talked to a retired priest and his care giver that told us that they went to a beach(don't know which) and were charghed $50.00 for two hamburgers w/fries ??.

Dominica..We had booked a tour with Nature Isle Explorers are first stop was Champagne reef for snorkling, it is a very rocky beach and my SO has two replacement knees and didn't want to take a chance of falling so we waited around the snack bar and watched the iguana's play, we noted some activity on the beach and soon an ambulance show up. We talked to a woman who said another woman had either had a heart attack or drowned, very sad scene as they wheeled her lifeless body and placed it in the ambulance. We contined the tour and went to TiTou Gorge we didn't try the water or swim we then went to Screws spa and enjoyed swimming in the pools of different temperture water, very nice. I have to leave so I will put up another post when I get back with the rest of the cruise and my thoughts.

Back to finish my review, Thursday was a sea day and we just spent the day wondering around the ship.

St. Thomas.. We went to Shappire beach by taxi and it was very nice came back about 4:00PM to clean up for dinner only to find out that there was no water available to clean up with. They kept making claims that the wqter would be back on but we had early seating so we loaded up with deodorant and went to dinner. The water came back on during dinner.

SJ.. departure went smoothly and we were off the ship about 9:00am

Addional thoughts:

We ate at Normandie on Monday evening it was good and they treat you very well but for $40.00 per person I'm not sure it's that great.

We are Elite members and that's fine but we had no use of the status. We never used any of the coupons, she tried when she got her nails done but they said it didn't apply to that.

I still think that Celebrity has to work on the food choices and all the little things that make cruising fun.

If you have any questions I'll try to answer, now I'll try to post some pics of the cabin and balcony. It won't let me upload pics, says i need sercurity token? I'll try later

Unfortunately I think you are still trying to recover since you arrived much later than normal for boarding the ship. You really cannot blame the celebrity Rep in trying to confirm your status of having a paid transfer and you missed the bus....I mean you forgot the tickets the rep was doing his or her job.

As ELITE...what coupons were you expecting to use that you didnt use? Never saw a "nail" coupon ( or spa), but the more common ones to be used are the 90 minutes of internet, laundry, casino toks, to name a few. Did you go to the Elite happy hour while on board...or go to the Elite breakfest in the morning!! Did you get an invite to the Senior Officers Party..did you go?

I am surprise the first day of embarkcation that you had to go to a bufffet line at 7:30pm for I thought out of San Juan it was OPEN seating in the MDR for dinner!!

The problem with your bed arrangement could have been resolved if you arrived earlier when the cabin attendants were on duty. AT 7:30 they are 1/2 way or almost through already with their evening turn downs. Sure it would have been nice if they beds were as yous requested but things happen and these things are normally easily changed...... but I think your late arrival cotributed to your bad start!

Any Lessons Learned ??

I like to use tinypic to post my photos here. You select the photo you want to post, choose the size you want the photo to be and click upload. There is one of those word puzzle things you type in and it will give you a URL to copy and pase here in a post. You need to choose the URL for message boards.

One of the moderators here on Cruise Critic posted that site to use for posting photos here a while back.

I'm looking forward to seeing your photos.
