So you know how you can get a free deck of cards on your cruise at guests services? They merely have the Funnel design on them.

I was thinking that these cards should be like a deck I recieved as a promo when I went to a Houston Astros baseball game a few years ago. Each card had a player, coach, the mascot or stadium, ect. on the card.

So basically the each ship Carnival ever had get's there own card, with a small picture of the ship and 1-2 facts about the ship. You could also have a card for Funship Freddy, John Heald, ect.

It's a little something I thought would be cool that Carnival could easily do. :D

I think it is a great idea - you should try to market it to Carnival

How much would you be willing to pay for them. Great promo tool but expensive to produce even in quantity, plus the problem of them going stale.

I'd pay 10$ at the most.

And how much extra would is cost to add a small picture and a line or 2 of text on a card. I don't think it would be that much more expensive (or no more ) than the current free cards they provide fleetwide upon request.

And cards going stale? I've never owned a bunch of deck of cards, and none (including the Carnivals I got) have ever gone stale.

Sure they do. Ships go out of service, personnel retire, information becomes old or out of date. Happens to all marketing materials. Say you put a line of info on them, saying Carnival has XX amount of ships in the fleet. It's stale the minute a new ship goes out.

Like those books or puzzles about the United States presidents. I like the idea of playing cards with ships on them. I would buy a deck even if they eventually became stale.

Well first try would only hav to make cards every 5 years or longer.

And about the info I was thinking of something like this:

Mardi Gras

First carnival ship

In service from 1972-1993

And about ships being stale..... After the Breeze there is current plans for new ships. And besides, New ships come only usually every 1-2 years,.

I think it's a great idea and would like to see the cruise directors with their info on them too.

There use to be a site where you could see the info on the cruise directors. I haven't been able to find it any more.

Last cruise we got a deck from the card room, and also a used deck from the casino. They are different cards, the casino ones being thicker and bigger. The ones from the card room were early in the cruise. Later they didn't have any more and didn't replace them.

If you put pictures of different things on the back then people would learn what ships were what cards. Not good for competition. If you put it on the face, not much room and still be able to see the card face. It would be pretty busy but doable I guess. Leave the funnel on the back?

Are the ones in the Gift Shop everyone's talking about like the free ones at GS?

No. The GS cards are cheap crappy ones but better then nothing.

We have received a free deck of cards a few times from guest services.

Never a free deck from the gift shop.

We usually purchase a deck of used cards from the casino for one dollar. Cash only.

The casino cards like all casino cards are of good quality.

Not positive but I think they use them longer then in Vegas. When you get used Vegas cards they are in close to perfect shape.

Not so for Carnival casino cards. Maybe the dealers/players are rougher on them ?;)
